Premiere: Latmun - Cosmic [Lost Records]

Nottingham’s Latmun arrives on Leftwing & Kody’s Lost Records with three energy fuelled house cuts, whilst Crosstown Rebel favourite Russ Yallop rounds out the EP on remix duties.

After an initial foray into production at the end of 2014, Latmun aka Joe Bradley’s sharp rise has garnered the attention and support of many including Lee Foss, Claptone, Darius Syrossian and Skream. The past year has seen the UK talent release on a host of distinguished labels such as VIVa (check out our premiere), El Row, Toolroom and Mar-T’s Wow! Recordings.

‘Cosmic’ kicks off the release with a selection of rumbling low end tones, stuttering vocal samples and reverberating sirens before our Debut Transmission today ‘Break it Down’ utilises engaging rhythm and evolving stabs to reveal a heady groove that’s packed full of swing. ‘Steez’ then utilises organic percussion and vocal whirrs to hold and maintain the attention of the floor, until Russ Yallop’s remix of ‘Cosmic’ reshapes the original, building on the crisp percussive elements and low-slung rhythms.

Latmun - Break It Down

ERM094, ‘Good Apples EP’, which is brought to us by UK’s Hauswerks (aka Colin Barratt), is a three tracker short full of tech-house bangers. Much like any elrow party around the globe, the EP opens up in full energy with the track giving it its name, ‘Good Apples (Original Mix)’. With its distinct percussion and vocals, this track becomes a true dancefloor killer each time it reaches momentum, with a set of crazy FX that will tear up any raver’s mind.

 ‘Riptide (Original Mix)’ follows, with a different sound progression, although always aiming to tear up the floor. With a looser percussion and almost tribal vocals, it’s a perfect song for less crowded moments on the set. 

‘Thrills n Spills (Original Mix)’ serves as closure for this exotic journey with its amazing wind sounds, as war horns calling us to battle. Its hypnotic percussion and its sound effects from other time and place make this song a true dancefloor killer. It will prove itself as the weapon of choice for any selector that want to make its crowd just loose it! All in all, a magnificent EP keeping up with the vibe and level settled, that serves to close the biggest year in elrow Music’s history so far!

elrow Music continues its steady line of releases with its second delivery of the year, this time in the hands of one of genre’s most preeminent producers and DJs: Pirupa. The Italian-born artist has delivered a three-tracker EP with the name ‘Wazzup EP’, that opens up with the title track. ‘Wazzup (Original Mix)’ is a groovy and playful song, with cheerful vocals, a soft yet steady percussion, great looping treatment that will turn any dancefloor into a dance craze in matter of seconds. It is followed by ‘Kill Them (Original Mix)’, a track that starts in more quieter fashion, but that soon turns into a real techy beast, with a really good and kind of exotic vocal line that builds up until breaking in total dancefloor madness by the middle of the song, but with an overall softer feel to it, making ‘Kill Them’ a perfect track for keep the crowds dancing in less busy moments in the floor. The EP closes with ‘Bad Boys (Original Mix)’, a song that starts with a highly energetic vocal line that goes all along the track, joined by a great percussive treatment, hard enough to make everybody dance, but nice and gentle, creating an amazing vibe that breaks into an authentic dancing extravaganza. All in all, Pirupa has delivered a very complete EP infused by elrow Music’s philosophy, that will turn any dancefloor into a carnivalesque craze of pure dancing. Keep your eyes and ears close to elrow Music… We have much more to deliver!
