L(C)OVE(I)D is scored for a solo marimba. The title L(C)OVE(I)D is a portmanteau blending two words, “LOVED” and “COVID.” Since the COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of people’s daily lives, L(C)OVE(I)D depicts how the pandemic has left some cracks in our family relationships. There are two 5-note main themes:  LOVED: A F# D# E D and COVID: C F# D# B D. 

L(C)OVE(I)D comprises 3 sections. The lyrical LOVED theme is stated in Section 1 in 4/4 time emphasizing a strong 4-against-3 relationship in both hands. The COVID theme opens Section 2 in 19/16 time and is followed by its 45 variants. Section 3 depicts how human relationships changed in the post-COVID-19 era.
