⨀ 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 • DJ Set @ Azula Market • Portugal • 01.05.22

Every artist desires to compose from their soul and resonate their inner world out. Beginning by asking “How humans started creating music?, Where did it all begin? and Why does it have this powerful effect on our lives?”. I have witnessed the effects of music not only on my own life but also on the life of others. How was it that music can unite every race, colour and creed under so unexplainably and effortlessly so? Is it as Earl Vickers states in his paper 'Music and Consciousness',  that "Music has a way of interacting with consciousness", and that it's like a "window into the soul ". Are we as composers finding a way of sharing our purest soul?

Historically, music was mainly used as a way to communicate with the gods or with nature. Used as prayers and blessings, natives sang around fires praying for blessings of peace, protection, rain or sun. Some of the earliest instruments, dating back to more than 40,000 years demonstrate understandings of rhythm, timbre, harmony and melody. Although we are not certain of what and why these instruments were used for, we can hazard a guess by discoveries like 'the title of the oldest song in existence, historians point to “Hurrian Hymn No. 6,” an ode to the goddess Nikkal that was composed in cuneiform by the ancient Hurrians sometime around the 14th century B.C'  In addition, whilst studying the Baka tribe it was understood that 'Music is the binding force for the Baka, who live in extended groups in the rainforests of Cameroon'. With listening skills based upon the natural world, 'they are said to be the first humans to sing and cure illness', 'argument with song and sing to enchant animals' 

Drawing inspiration from this knowledge I wanted to compose with the intention of taking the listener back to a place of divine soul communication. Not only for the listener but also as a form of communication with the cosmos, an EP dedicated to the 5 elements of nature of which I will discuss two components. Sometimes referred to as the elements of life, I will attempt to establish communication through frequency whilst activating a consciousness connection to these universal laws.
