A fierce and authentic collection of songs from the dazzling mind of Melbourne roots rock icon Dallas Frasca, the upcoming new solo album Force of Nature is set to truly be a genuine sonic force to be reckoned with, journeying between towering highs and glossy reprieves with unbridled power and passion. Force of Nature full-length include recent single Electric Days follows on from Stand on My Shoulders (#1 AMRAP Charts) and River Queen (#2 AMRAP Charts), with Electric Days erupting with fuzz, guitar-fuelled hooks and explosive 60s Motown-driven percussion. An album four years in the making and inspired greatly by time spent in nature as well as finding her own true self along the way, the result is a spellbinding journey deep into the soul of one of Australia’s genuine songwriting greats.

“Recording Force of Nature was an intense and deeply personal process. I recorded it across eight different studios across Australia and L.A, including the piano for The Wind Blows in my loungeroom aka ‘Lady Luck Studios’, and you can hear the birds chirping outside throughout the recording. Real and raw. It’s the third record I’ve made with my dear friend and collaborator, L.A Based, Andy Baldwin. Andy's playful and adventurous spirit brought a touch of genius to the plate every day. He pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of. When I heard the mix for the opening track on the record, I cried. I couldn't believe what we had accomplished together.
Opening with driving stomp and swagger via Pray , Force of Nature journeys between the simmering might of Let It Rain , coated in raw vocals, modern gospel hues and a magnetic vocal delivery, through to uplifting and bold waves of acoustic guitars and glimmering harmonies ( You Are Glorious (Unborn Unicorn) and River Queen ), poignant ballads draped in warmth ( The Wind Blows and May The Bridges We’ve Burned Light The Way ), stomping gems laden with country charm and blues ( I’ll Be Here When You Wake ), and modern rock ( Electric Days ), with all tracks powerfully helmed and woven together throughout by Dallas Frasca herself . “Force of Nature is a musical homecoming of sorts and in retrospect was a time of healing and growth for me,” Dallas reveals. “My producer Andy and my vision was to treat e ach song like its own universe to make a multi-dimensional piece of art. Dallas and her band have just returned from New York with their second full length album in hand, where they worked with Australian producer Andy Baldwin (Bjork, Chrissie Amphlett, Living End, Kram, Cat Empire) at Rola Pola Studio’s in Brooklyn.

One of the tracks from the upcoming album has been mixed by the legendary producer Tchad Blake (Black Keys, Elvis Costello, Pearl Jam, Tom Waits, Sheryl Crow, The Dandy Warhols, Gomez) in the south of France. It’s shaping up to be a big year for the Australian Underground retro riff rocker, with “Sound Painter” due for release in 2012.

The entire album was recorded live in New York after 4 months of songwriting in Melbourne. Expect slabs of guitar riffage, skin slamming drums and heavy, soulful vocals.

Dallas recalls, “Recording in New York, riding our pushies across the WIllamsburg Bridge every day from Manhattan, that change of scene was inspiring. It gave me, Jeff and Pete a chance to be anything we wanted to. You can hear the confidence on the recording we made.”

By the age 18 Frasca was on the road, chanelling all the sass and irreverence of Chrissie Amphlett and Suze Demarchi. Armed with power and torque reminiscent of Aretha Franklin and Betty Davis her stand out voice didn’t take long to get noticed. After developing nodules and being forced not to sing for 18 months she turned her gaze to the guitar, and her evolution was complete.

In 2006, she won triple j’s “Light Your Fuse” competition from over 500 entries. Her career exploded from there. Dallas won the 2010 ‘Artist Of The Year’ at the Musicoz Awards and her album was voted in the ‘top ten’ best roots releases on JJJ in 2009. She has also stormed the stages at countless major festivals (Big Day Out, Falls, Bluesfest, Pyramid Rock, Festival of the Sun, Queenscliff, Southbound, and major French festival – Blues Passion Cognac). The bands tribal and stomping roots performances have earned them a large, loyal fan base.

In 2008 Dallas sang for Aussie Alt-Rock royalty Midnight Oil in Sydney, in support of Amnesty International.

In early 2009 Dallas was invited to perform as one of seven artists from seven continents of the planet for International Earth Day in Montreal. It not only allowed her the thrill of holding a dialogue with fellow-artists about social and environmental issues, but she caught the ear of Canadian promoters who have invited her to come back and tour there.

One very loud woman stands out musically and vocally from the rest. Independent of major labels, trends and a bullshit industry that all to often is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

Recording next to the Willliamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn in a warehouse shared by the Jewish community, the band did the entire album with no click tracks for that true honest rock sound and the intent of being able to show they can perform it live. After 4 months of writing and rehearsals in Melbourne, Dallas, Jeff Curran (guitar) and Pete McDonald (drums) hit The Big Apple and tracking wise, smashed down eleven songs in 7 days. All guitars and drums and most vocals on the album were live takes with next to no over dubs and most songs were captured in their first or second takes. The entire record features no bass; just Dallas and Jeff dueling gargantuan slabs of riffs on two Les Paul’s through 1960’s Fender and Silvertone amps. The sixties permeates throughout in fact, all drums were 1960’s Slingerland and Ludwigs and the vocals were also all done though 1960’s mics.
 
In Frasca’s own words: “Recording in New York, we had to ride our pushies 7 km’s through Manhattan and across the Willamsburg Bridge every day, from our accom to the studio, and then back again at night. New York was spread out in front of us. That change of scene, from writing in Footscray, Melbourne in the middle of winter to then living in Soho, Manhattan in summer - was inspiring. It gave me, Jeff and Pete a chance to be anything we wanted to. You can hear the confidence on the record.

All My Love was the first song that we wrote together, when it happened it was like a lightning bolt that inspired us and gave us the strength to push through as we wrote the rest of the album. Every song on the album has its own individual personality and sound and hence “Sound Painter” as a whole  is like a giant painting with all colours of the rainbow being used. It tells so many stories and yet it is obvious that the strokes across each one were from the same brush…..”

For a decade, Dallas Frasca has not stopped. She's toured the world (including 10 European tours), rocked the iconic Sydney Opera House and major international festivals from the Big Day Out, Falls Fest and Pyramid Rock Down Under, to International Earth Day (Canada) and Les Nuits de La Guitare de Patrimonio (France) with over 1000 shows under her belt.

A collaboration in 2015 with Ugly Kid Joe was released on UKJ’s first album in 19 yrs album and landed them a #10 spot in the BBC Charts in the UK. Dallas Frasca’s songs have featured in numerous films and their song, ‘Success Is The Best Revenge’ from their 2015 release, ‘Love Army’ was the theme song on the popular TV show, ‘Bondi Ink’.
