Arranging old songs again. But this time is different.
Feeling blue, feeling jazzy.
Imagine being in a long travel with a person you love, but she or he is not loving you back. That's the feeling I always wanted this song to have. And I think I finally had it. Just, it would be better with a real sax. anybody?

旅 (il viaggio)

Based on "The Architect", by my band "La Manicomca", year what? 1999 or so? I cannot even remember. Anyway, completely different stuff here. It's 2022, for f's sake.
6/8 is still a thing, as it seems.
Anther fake sax; every solo is actually improvised with a guitar and then transcribed to midi.

建築家 (architect)

An instrumental inspired by Morricone's soundtracks and Pink Floydian guitar solos.
This song signs DALU's come back after many years of silence.

The songs follow a somewhat intricate chord progression starting on a E minor feel and ending the main theme in a full D major chord. For the first guitar solo it switch to a Eb major.
Crazy stuff!

The Good, The Good And THE GOOD

A slow paced song, once again based on the guitar and bass harmonies.
the lyrics are very introspective and fit the "rainy" blue atmosphere of the music.
Guitar fills are dubbed by a muffled synth to communicate a sense of dualism between two very similar yet very different part of oneself.

There is a quote from one of my favorite artists, Suzanne Vega. Since this melody came to my mind (or belly~~) it kid of felt on the same strings as "Solitude Standing".

ANOTHER ME

another me,

Another Me

Here I'm trying something new. Electro Funk Rock, very groovy.
I took an arpeggio that was going to be some evocative trippy rock song and made something completely different. Ready your body!

The song is 99% hand-crafted, meaning that the only "sample" you will hear is a little chunk of chorus saying "get up, get up", namely an Apple sample. All the rest is played or programmed
by myself. I'm especially proud of the bass line!
If you wish to know how i got some of the sounds, just leave a comment and I will try to reply during the same geologic era.

Copy&Paste Universe

The main verse and chorus of this song are about two decades old. 
I was a teenager and used to play with chord variations; there are a lot of jazzy and open string chords but the feel of the song is something in between the Beatles and Smashing Pumpkins, bands I used to listen to death during my high school years.

The synth part, solo and lyrics I wrote just recently. Actually the words don't have a special meaning; they are but a mix of memories (a trip to Hong Kong, specifically), random thoughts  and something that I heard somewhere and just stuck inside my head.

I think the sound of this song has a texture... like velvet!

Back to old school!

The original melody somehow developed into Giuseppe Verdi's most famous march from Nabucco during a session with La Manicomica. I decided to keep the quote, but the song came out as a completely different beast: it has a videogame-like feel and I tried to finish it not taking myself too seriously.

Il Regno Degli Errori

When I started learning guitar at 12 I wanted to be a rockstar.
But you know, not every dream come true, at least in the way you think it would!

I built a band called "la manicomica", active in Milan between the last 90s and the 00s. Emigrated to Japan, I stopped doing music because adulthood, responsibility and just lack of time and will. you know, the usual excuses.

However, Music never leaves you!  I've been stalked for years by a few melodies, chord progressions that stuck in my head and never left me.
So I decided to go down to business and make songs out of them, again.

Dalu is on the wave again, rocking the world!
