Hailing from the Vaal in Vanderbijlpark, the rapper fell in love with Hip Hop at the tender age of 12 in 2005 and has never looked back since. To nurture his love for Hip Hop he used to collect multiple issues of Dsquare and Hype magazine.

Teq lived opposite a studio, where he would constantly hear beats being made and rappers lacing their verses. With this exposure, he grew more curious about the genre and yearned for an opportunity to showcase his talent, an opportunity that eventually presented itself when he was in his matric year.

Teq started performing at the Gaza Sunday Hip Hop Sessions hosted by Archie Nhlapo, famously known as DJ X-Angel, in Sharpeville. He then went on to perform at Salsa Hip Hop Lounge and this was where he made a name for himself in the game as he was lined up in some of the biggest Hip Hop events such as Tear The Roof Off, Lyrical Showdown and The Vaal Hip Hop Festival, just to name a few.

In late 2011, he met Tempo Beatz from We Make Music SA and they recorded a song titled
Sphakamisi’V-Side. This song got featured in a Mixtape titled 'Vaal to Swaziland' which included prominent Hip Hop artists from the Vaal such as Mothipa, Moho Katalyst, Poltagyst, Mr Beef and Monyofonyofo.

In 2013, Teq along with Major Lee formed a duo called MajorProblem. The collaboration gave birth to one of the most legendary projects to ever come out of the Vaal, Da Streets Awakening - which was impressive because it was done with very limited resources. The pair shot two music videos for MajorProblem and Kae Kapa Kae during their collaboration. Later that same year, Teq left MajorProblem and joined O-Productions, which is one of the fastest growing labels in the Vaal and has given rise to talented artists such as Anzo and Big Zulu. Under the label, there was noticeable growth in his craft as an artist and he managed to create and secure a steady fan base in and around the country in places like the Vaal, Soweto, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mpumalanga and even Swaziland.

Teq is currently signed under his own label called 6AM Success Entertainment - which he co-owns
with his childhood friend, Brian Tromp. Under the label, he released The Decoy EP in 2017 with hit singles Mathata Feela and Gone. He released another EP in 2018 titled Year End Function. His latest work includes the release of the 'Gone' music video and dope singles such as Sbong' uLife and MaBrrr!
