On June 20, 2020 (previously April 17 due to COVID cancelation) the Berliner agency BOSSA FM releases the project BAILE FUNK host by DJ DA MATTA.

The project brings the history of the Braziklian music genre that was born under the influence of Miami Bass back in late 80's early 90's.

This mixtape pictures the transition from Miami Bass to Funk Carioca, going a bit further in time.

This is the first mix of a series, presenting a bit of what happened and what is in fact happening now around Favela's Funk.

Favela's Funk - Old School Mix By DA MATTA (Berlin)

DA MATTA is a Brazilian artist, club DJ, musician, composer and live promoter and is a crucial filter and curator enabling the 'now' sound of Brazil to cross continents through his production enterprise Bossa FM and Psicotrópicos Festival.
 
His DJ sets elevate, with one foot rooted in South American and black music culture, the other tapping to the electronic eccentricities local to the dancefloors of Europe. A self confessed vinyl addict, the tower of influence stems from both fresh and classic strands of boogie, disco, jazz, Brazilian funk, bossa, soul and afro samba - blended and cut - often embued with electronic bleeps and bass designed squarely at the dancefloor.
