The Furies, also known as the Erinyes or Eumenides, are chthonic goddesses of vengeance in ancient Greek mythology. They were often depicted as terrifying figures who punished those who committed crimes, especially murder, perjury, and impiety. The most commonly named Furies are Alecto (Endless Rage), Megaera (Jealous Rage), and Tisiphone (Vengeful Destruction). OMG Becky! Enough of your drama already!

THE FURIES

In addition to its musical significance, "Silent Night" carries a historical context, having been written during a tumultuous period in Europe. Its calm message of peace found resonance during the Christmas Truce of 1914 during World War I, when soldiers on both sides of the conflict laid down their weapons and sang carols together, including "Silent Night."
