Combining forces, Audiofly and Patrice Bäumel draw on unique inspirations from the desert to deliver the monumental Atacama on Crosstown Rebels. Having focused solely on his own productions in the past, label boss Damian Lazarus steps away for the first time to complete this exceptional release with a profound re-shape.

The hypnotic Atacama intricately builds with a certain intensity that never drops, stimulating the senses and transporting the mind as deep, grumbling pads drift in and out of play. Damian Lazarus remembers “the first moment I heard this track I knew there was something very special about it, not only did it strike me as a killer club record but I also felt the textures completely appropriate to my own experiences in the Atacama desert.” On the flip, Damian changes gear as a deep, chugging beat leads the way through an impressive re-shape of the original.

Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito aka Audiofly have established a creative empire, which includes two record labels and their Flying Circus global party brand. They met Patrice during a US tour and immediately hit it off. “It wasn't long after that we decided to invite him to Barcelona for a session that proved to be nothing short of Inspirational.”

Internationally renowned DJ and producer Patrice Bäumel has had a busy start to 2017 with a release on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife imprint, plus remixes for Sasha & Policia and Depeche Mode amongst others. He truthfully said of the this release, “it's a labour of love that came together within a few hours of jamming in the studio, unlike many 'collabs' this one really felt like we all equally contributed to the end result.“

Jonny White’s acclaimed Art Department alias continues to serve up essential house music with a new package featuring a standout original as well as remixes from Damian Lazarus, Clive Henry and Nitin & Down 2 feat. Lorenzo Dada.

Art Department continued to light up the world’s best clubs and festivals throughout 2018 and into 2019. He also served up vinyl chart topping EPs on No.19 and Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory that showed his style is constantly evolving, always connecting the dots between the past, present and future, finding fresh new ground in the house sphere. This new track comes as a fantastic live version with a typically on- point selection of remixes.

The lead single, ‘Normalizm,’ is a brilliantly elastic piece of house music, with infectious and busy drums setting a playful mood. Fat synths warp around the beats and the whole thing has a restlessness to it that cannot fail to make you move. Scene mainstay and Crosstown Rebels’s driving creative force Damian Lazarus steps up with a remix that fantastically reworks the track into eight darkly involving minutes of synth laden intensity. The drums twist and turn, and the pads bring real late night emotion to the groove.

Circoloco resident and producer of some of house music’s chunkiest sounds Clive Henry then steps up. His well-constructed remix flips the track into something deep, liquid and stripped back. It’s a fluid groove for intimate after parties that really gets under your skin.

Last of all, label co-owner Nitin joins forces with the enigmatic Down 2 for a remix that features keys from classically trained pianist, and respected producer in his own right, Lorenzo Dada. Recorded at Zee’s infamous studio facility in Toronto, this perfect final piece of the puzzle is beautifully spaced out and delicate. The keys are tender and emotive and the rolling drums get you lost in a cinematic and widescreen reverie.

This is a wonderfully varied package that covers plenty of musical ground, and marks another high point from the always on point Art Department and No.19 Music.

Almost 20 years ago, when the scene prided itself on being a family of happy misfits, FC Kahuna's ‘Hayling' hit us with force. Resonating with a universal, star-gazing, emotional soul it was one of those rare tracks that fans (and indeed misfits) from every genre, every style, every camp could resonate with. Fans like Subtract Music founder Anton Tumas.

Back then he was just cutting his electronic teeth, but the force of ‘Hayling' has always been with him… To the point he's dedicated his label's 16th release to it. Successfully navigating the complex maze of licensing, he's brought a whole new lease of life to the iconic original with some of the very best names in the game. John Digweed and Nick Muir, Damian Lazarus, Andre Lodemann and Fabian Dikof and the mighty Deetron.

Digweed and Muir take the lead with two beautifully crafted takes on the classic. Loosening up the swing of the original, adding a little live-sound bass and highlighting all the cosmic elements, both the main remix and reprise celebrate every nuance of the 2001 track with modern day production and arrangement.

Their mixes are backed by three more exceptional new translations. Crosstown Rebel Damian Lazarus is up next and having originally signed the track to his cult imprint City Rockers, has to be one of the most appropriate men for the job. Delivering a much more driving re-shape, the chords, emotion and pulse are there but subverted enough for it to feel like a whole new adventure.

For even darker, deeper, late night variations look no further… Best-kept-secret Andre Lodemann and his studio cohort Fabian Dikof take us deep down the rabbit hole before massaging us with lush pads and instrumentation while Deetron slams the message home with a forthright and completely unexpected banger of remix.

Curated to span the same genres and moods that the original did over 18 years ago, the whole EP has been considered with full respect to the original. Naturally the OG versions are here in all their glory. FC Kahuna's signature vision fully intact. Just be glad to be here…

Following the announcement that Masters At Work/KenLou have remixed ‘Antigravity Love’, taken from electronic hero Krust’s critically-acclaimed album ‘The Edge Of Everything’, the A-list versions keep flowing with Four Tet, Batu and Damian Lazarus each re-working a different track from the LP.

Sparkling like stars with a pretty melody, Four Tet’s interpretation of ‘Negative Returns’ also packs a deceptively heavy punch, maintaining the original’s hurtling velocity, fuelled by a huge sub-bass engine. “This is the first D&B track I’ve ever made! It felt good to do something out of my comfort zone”, says the much-loved artist also known as Kieran Hebden.

The spiralling beat-and-bass science of fellow Bristolian Batu’s version takes ‘Space Oddity’ and deconstructs it like a cubist portrait, matching the main man himself in pure outside-the-box expression.

Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus maintains Krust’s epic adventure narrative, retelling the tale in his own words, taking recognisable parts from the original and transposing them into a groovy cosmic house odyssey.
