Apologue’s second release comes from the label’s co-founder, Damien Schneider. Life Cycle EP delves into the concept of evolution, both within the individual tracks and their order on the EP. It pulsates with an array of living, breathing sound sculptures featuring an array of clean and distorted sounds.

The EP consists of four original artist tracks and a remix from Perc (Perc Trax). Life Cycle kicks off with “Ground”, its atmospheric and haunting pads paving the way for the drums to rise regally into the mix. “Birth” features hypnotic synth lines against an aural backdrop of evolving drums and precise percussion elements. “Swell” provides a strong incessant groove building the intensity towards “Future Two” which delivers a strong melodic element to the EP while retaining a profoundly deep and heavy groove. Rounding off Life Cycle is Perc’s remix of “Future Two”. Turning the melodic element on its head, Perc devilishly distorts and mutates sounds into an almost industrial feel, providing the instantly recognisable “Perc” sound.

This month’s show, Organic Analogue Records is showcasing the notorious Bristol club night “Room 237”

Formed in April 2005 Room 237 brought emerging international leftfield artists to Leeds from multiple underground genres and labels; producing eclectic and successful lineups for years.

In 2021 Room 237 moved to Bristol bringing something completely new and different to the city, leading the way with a more Techno edged sound to the programming.

Over the course of 15 years artists such as LFO, Squarepusher, Helena Hauff, Chris Clark, Venetian Snares, Flying Lotus, Battles and Sunn O))) Autechre, Surgeon, to name the few, came and fired up Room 237 stage and a constantly thriving dance floor.

We’re very excited to welcome 2 of the Room 237 residents to the airwaves, Black Amiga & Damien Schneider. Both have been DJing for many years and always bring a wealth of knowledge, skill and professionalism to the dance floor.

Originally from France, Damien Schneider is a Bristol-based DJ/producer and the co-founder of the record label, Onnset Records (www.onnset.co.uk); primarily a techno label, which also produces more experimental, soundscape & broken techno music.

Over the years Damien has contributed to a range of other labels; Micropunto, Gynoid, Counter Pulse, Emetic, PAR recordings and his tracks have been remixed by artists including Perc, Ansome, Tadeo and JoeFarr.

He’s well-known for his late marathon DJ sets full of energy, with a sound based on a subtle balance of bass-heavy drums and dissonant noises, mixed with elegant melodies and clinical sounds.

In 2015, Damien and his long-time friend Joanie Lemercier joined forces to create the audio-visual project 'Artefact’. Working together with Eva Darracq, an organ player, they created a live audio-visual mapping performance held in the Basilique St-Michel in Bordeaux, France. 

For his most recent project, Damien was invited to perform his first live set for the club night Room237 at the Arnolfini Art Centre in Bristol. This unique opportunity gave Damien the chance to employ a much more experimental approach compared to his usual style, with a heavy contrast between broken distorted tracks and a calm & clean ambient soundscape.

Archived Memories is a recollection of memories during the years all around Europe through gigs, good moments and difficult ones. Damien presents us with an outstanding EP completed by a remix from Tadeo coming back with us after the huge success on MPS008. 

Female starts off with a dub influenced drum pattern building up into a frenetic kick that plays perfectly together with the stabs to create this unique blend of old school influences with modern day techno techniques. Runner uses a more hypnotic touch and surprises us with Damien's surgical precision and refined drum programming. 

Tadeo does not fail to impress us. His production skills are just amazing and the space in his tracks fills up the air when played on a good sound system. His remix of Female gives a twist to the original on a more aggressive Detroit influenced sound. 

To round up the EP, Empac closes nicely with a slower BPM and a very dense atmosphere filled up with classic techno chords.
