O balanço é do mar. São as caravelas que surgem num deslize de beleza e melancolia. “Memórias Luso Africanas” tem essa cadência desde a concepção e o título. Agrupa um conjunto de canções que se entrelaçam esteticamente como retratos em um álbum de família. Os parentes estão ali fotografados e enquadrados em diferentes molduras. 
 
Produtor de trilhas sonoras para filmes, Amabis trouxe essa experiência para o show: os arranjos sugerem imagens de um filme em super 8 ou de uma projeção de slides, tudo quase sempre em preto e branco que introduz a atmosfera e convida o ouvinte a espiar no baú empoeirado de lembranças.
 
“Sempre fui muito ligado às histórias familiares, talvez por ter uma avó materna muito carinhosa, com uma história de vida linda e disposição pra contá-la centenas de vezes aos netos. Com a idade, ela foi perdendo a memória, esqueceu tudo e ficou muda. Aquilo me bateu. Fiz estas musicas buscando a sonoridade e memórias dos meus antepassados – portugueses e africanos”, explica o músico.

Globetrotting Texan trio Khruangbin present 'Maria También', the first single from their upcoming second album ‘Con Todo El Mundo'. Formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums; Khruangbin’s sounds are rooted in the deepest waters of world music infused with classic soul, dub and psychedelia. Their 2015 debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ was heavily influenced by 60’s and 70’s Thai cassettes the band listened to on their long car journeys to rehearsal in the Texan countryside. ‘Con Todo El Mundo’ takes inspiration not just from South East Asia but similarly underdiscovered funk and soul of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, particularly Iran.

"14/08" is the first pre-single of JJ Whitefield’s solo debut album "Brother All Alone". On the new German Neo-Jazz label Kryptox / K7. Guitarist and producer JJ Whitefield is kind of a legend to many funk, hiphop and afro connoisseurs around the world. Before joining the Kryptox label he released albums on Ninja Tune, Stones Throw, Now Again and Daptone with his bands Karl Hector & The Malcouns, Poets of Rhythm, Whitefield and Rodinia. 
He also was the band leader and co-produced the two comeback albums of Ebo Taylor for Strut Records. The German multitalent has been living in San Francisco many years before coming back to Germany and now recording "Brother All Alone" - a Jazz Funk album with some of the best young heads from the new Berlin Hipster Jazz scene. The album could make some waves as Whitefield has prominent fans all over the world: From L.A. guys like Madlib, DJ Shadow, Dan Auerbach or Kemasi to UK Jazz heads around Gilles Peterson scene. Many of the albums of his former bands are cult. So this next step in his carrier could get some attention too!

'Mantra Moderne' is a stunning, contemporary masterpiece that fuses Anatolian Psychedelia, Brazilian Tropicalia, 60’s European pop and American jazz. A must for fans of Khruangbin, Portishead, Arthur Verocai, Goat, Caetano Veloso, Tom Zé, Os Mutantes, Cortex and co.

The duo is formed of Kit Martin, who lives between London and France and plays all instruments on the album, and Merve Erdem, vocalist and multi-disciplinary artist from Istanbul, now based in London. This is their debut album.

The album explores universal themes such as love, loss, decay, language and ideology, mixing three different languages: English, Turkish and French. Written and recorded by the duo - Kit composed all the songs and Merve wrote the lyrics - in rural France during 2018, each song was completed within a 12-hour window, pawning contemplation for spontaneity.

Dubbed by Kit and Merve as ‘lo-fi-hi-fi’ in reference to the high-end tube equipment that helped it find its way to 8-track cassette tape. The style owes its sound to narrow tape width, valve distortion, spring reverb, the mixture of high end gear with lo-fi equipment as well as a disregard to the norms of hi-fi studio techniques. All instruments were analogue and no samples were used. The instruments that are used range from tablas to darbukas, balalaikas to ouds, MS20 synths to Farfisa organs and a lot of cuica. The mixing techniques were done on-the-fly, tracking immediately to tape: compression, EQ, delay and reverb; meaning mixing could not be revisited!

The deluxe edition of ‘Mantra Moderne’ features two previously unreleased tracks - ‘Kozmos' and 'Rain (باران)’. It also includes remixes of album tracks from Baris K, Halal Cool J, and Natureboy Flako (who also contributes an unreleased cover version of ‘Senden Baska’).
