Wrote this one while sitting on our back porch with my wife and dogs and sipping a glass of red wine and hearing the cows mooing loudly in the valley below. Then looked eastward to see the bright moon in the sky, turning westward now seeing the sun setting over the opposite mountain ranges.  Living out here makes writing these songs way too easy.

This poem from Tolkien's The Hobbit tells the backstory of the Dwarves of Erebor, and it awakens the adventurous side of Bilbo. It is sung by Thorin's Dwarwes in Bagend, but as Tolkien left no music with it, there has been many (great) musical adaptations. Here's my take at it. I chose to focus on the Dwarves' nostalgia for the beauty of Erebor and the mastery of its craftsmanship - where the dwarf smiths used to "mesh the light of Moon and Sun".
