Over the course of time, we come to find out he's not the only cat from Wisconsin that produces amazing music. From the unlikely locale of central Tennessee, a young talent known as Sterfry emerges with a fresh take on the sounds that make up the musical DNA of Darker Than Wax, distilled into six tracks for his label debut - ‘Life pt.1’. The 23 year old producer and saxophonist fluidly traverses the realms of jazz, soul, house, and beat, freed from the structural restraints of traditional dance music - ‘Life pt.1’ is all about making music that comes naturally, music straight from the heart. This ethos can be heard throughout the release, as blistering saxophone and piano performances merge effortlessly with smooth synths and drum machines. On ‘Wayward1’, the artist enlists his sister’s talents on the vocal, adding another layer of honesty to the down-to-earth collection of tracks. ‘Life pt.1’ resonates equally well in personal listening as it does with an open-minded dance floor - a reflection of the young producer’s personal growth and musical depth.
