Featuring the freshly uncovered singing/song-writing talents of vocalist Poppy, ‘The Way Back Home’ is ready to put early summer’s emotion in motion.

With an extensive inventory of heart searing melodies and club rocketing productions already secured in their collective portfolio, Ferry Tayle & Always Alive Recordings are now delighted to show you ‘The Way Back Home’.

Using thermally rising pads and synths, Ferry’s Original Mix goes surface to air in whip-quick time. The man from Strasbourg maintains ‘Way Back’s altitude with air-strung, heaven-sent, melodies and floor-flaming synths. To that Poppy brings the poignancy to her faraway lyrics and gravities to her verse delivery. Finally, at the top of the break, through its chorus, she delivers its upliftingly emotional TKO.

Giving the track its June Money Shot, DJ Mag said “Poppy’s straight-from-the-heart verses & chorus juxtapose a string & synth insurgence, and at the break’s apex the lightning most conclusively hits the tree!” going on label it an “amazing track” and giving it 9/10! UK electronic music bible MIXMAG meanwhile said “Carrying the same expressively emotional vocal payload (as ‘Rescue Me’), this release is every bit as fine. ‘The Way Back Home’s lyrics though are that much more narrative & thus engaging, and that sets this release apart”, cheekily quipping it was “a very fine tale!”

The Alive Again EP tries something different; it’s my effort to highlight elements of musical composition in a genre that too often prioritizes “cool” or “catchy” sounds over musicality. Each version of Alive Again was created with different production techniques, different song-writing styles and thus, each strives to invoke a unique emotional response. We listen to different genres of music depending on our states of mind, so I wanted people to enjoy the song behind Alive Again across multiple moods. Whether you’re feeling energetic, chill, or need a dose of vulnerability, there’s always a version to listen to.

I’m looking forward to following this format for a lot of my future releases. Since my early mashup days I’ve always been fascinated by combinations, how different elements of different things could work together to create something new. The Alive Again EP is the evolution of that fascination that I have with sound. The concept of that in literature is called intertextuality - the idea that every creative concept is influenced by a variety of creative predecessors. I’m using it as a framework for everything I make moving forward, taking bits and pieces of musical influence from lots of different genres and injecting it in dance music.

More specifically to the Alive Again project, it was an honor to work with Emma Hewitt, as her voice has perfectly complimented some of the most beautiful dance records of our time. Her haunting tone really completes the soundscape of Alive Again, pulling heart strings and effortlessly enveloping listeners in the euphoric atmosphere of the record. I've always viewed myself as a musician first, a producer second, and a performer third; this is the beginning of a new chapter for me, where I'll be doing more projects that showcase musicianship over anything else :)

I had such a great time making this track, it was always intended to be a an epic dance floor song. In my sets I play a lot of different genres, Trance/Progressive/Psy/Trap, so I wanted to make something that took the best of all those worlds and smash it into something really energetic and trippy. I never really intended on releasing it and was only going to keep it for my sets because its such a weird song but the response over the last year has been so great and a lot of you asked for it so here it is. Consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, The Midnight have emerged in recent years as a veritable leader of the synthwave resurgence. More specifically, the duo have received generous support from legions of synthwave enthusiasts, as well as more casual synth-pop fans, ever since their aesthetic-defining debut EP "Los Angeles" (2014). Their subsequent LP offering, "Endless Summer" (2016), cemented the duo's reputation as one of the finest new synthwave acts, a sentiment that musical legends (Chicane), renowned artist peers (FM-84), and prominent genre hubs (NewRetroWave) have graciously reinforced of late. The Midnight Remixed, one of our most ambitious releases to date, features brand new remixes by a distinguished group of Silk Music veterans, whose melodic and atmospheric sound has significantly helped to define our brand. We've also recruited a few famed nonresident label contributors, including Lifelike and Michael Cassette, whose specific compositional gifts and musical legacies seemed especially apropos to this 80s-influenced endeavor.

The Midnight Remixed showcases breathtaking new interpretations of The Midnight's past work, ranging in style from drum & bass and deep house to trance & progressive. Michael Cassette, Johan Vilborg, Dezza, Lifelike, PROFF, Terry Da Libra, Sundriver, and Talamanca's exhilarating, club-oriented interpretations feature rapturous chords, and, of course, Tyler's mellifluous and infectious vocal hooks. Offerings from Marsh, Vintage & Morelli, eleven.five, and Mango vs. We Are All Astronauts convey a deeper and more introspective musical tone, but are nonetheless equally memorable.
