As a performer, Damon Marks has worked as a guitarist on Alicia Keys’ Freedom Tour playing guitar for Jermaine Paul, the 2012 winner of NBC's "The Voice". As a part of the tour, Damon played in numerous world-renowned arenas such as Madison Square Garden, The Prudential Center, and Trump Taj Mahal. Over the course of his career, he has also collaborated with a diverse range of very notable musicians. Damon also helmed and played lead guitar for the female-fronted rock band, Lipstick Magazine. Notably, Damon co-produced Lipstick Magazine’s 2008 debut album, Skin Deep, alongside Grammy Award winning engineer Mark Plotnikoff. To support Skin Deep, Lipstick Magazine toured extensively and opened for heavy metal icons such as Bret Michaels, Winger, Sebastian Bach, Extreme, and Ratt. During the tour, Lipstick Magazine also played the Rocklahoma Festival. 

In 2010, Damon founded the Traveling Guitar Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which provides equipment and support for school systems that are struggling to finance their music education programs. With Damon’s leadership and business acumen, the Foundation has worked to ensure that school children have access to high-quality musical instruments and instruction during a time when school systems across the country are facing budgetary restraints. Damon believes that music showcases creativity and brings joy to people's lives. Moreover, Damon maintains that a meaningful music education also nurtures children's intellectual and communal development. Interestingly, Damon can personally testify to the importance of being exposed to music at a young age.

By way of background, the Foundation accomplishes its mission in two ways. First, the Foundation travels to schools whose music programs are in jeopardy and give music educational clinics for the benefit of students. At each event, Damon enlists the help of both younger and established artists, such as SWIZZ BEATZ, Miranda Cosgrove (ICarly), Ariana Grande (Victorious) and Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC, to help showcase the power of music as an artistic platform, cultural force, and enjoyable activity. In these clinics Damon interacts directly with children, provides musical instruction and discusses the importance of attaining an education.

Second, after each clinic, the Foundation donates guitar kits and other instruments directly to the schools to help them sustain their musical education programs. Importantly, after the Foundation stages a clinic, Damon and other Traveling Guitar Foundation board members continually check back with the school's administration and music faculty to make sure that the donated instruments are being used properly, and regularly, for the betterment of children's intellectual and creative development.

Since 2010, the Traveling Guitar Foundation's profile has grown rapidly. Initially, the Foundation established a substantial presence in the New York tri state area. In the New York area alone, Damon has appeared a live guest on WABC TV, NBC, FOX 5, NJ12 TV, and WPIX CW11 Morning News. He has also appeared on Z100, Power 105, Q104.3 and 103.5 KTU. However, the Foundation has also established a national presence, with clinics taking place in California and Georgia. Recently, Damon has also interfaced with superstar athletes who have taken notice of the Foundation’s mission and work, such as Allan Houston, David Tyree, and Dikembe Mutombo. Through the Foundation, Damon has also secured and maintained sponsorships with ESP Guitars, Line 6, Guitar Center, Marriott Hotels, Jim Dunlop and Mogami Cable.
