Shane McCormick is a singer, composer, and artist from Denver, Colorado. He spent years honing his acoustic guitar and vocal crafts all around his state and the world at various back porches, rooftops, karaoke bars and open Mic nights. By the time he set out to perform in front of live audiences he had developed a unique style that mixed original song ideas and creatively interpreted cover songs. Listeners compared his vocal style to singers from Cat Stevens to Elvis Costello. During this period Shane would often invite other singers on stage to perform covers with him and share in his philosophy that music is an interactive and communal experience. From this, the act "Father and Son" developed featuring Shane and his father, Kevin McCormick, the name coming from the Cat Stevens song they were known for playing. To this day Shane considers performing with his father his highest musical achievement. Shane still honors this foundation in live acoustic cover sets.

Later, Shane would go on to help create new projects respectively titled HerzRot and GoodLuckSpider. These projects offered a wide range of songwriting styles, collaborative input, and an introduction to electronic composition. These groups are still active.

In 2014 Shane set out on a new path with a goal to create listener friendly music that, was personally and socially relevant, and was similar to the music that inspired him most. Using the sounds of artists such as TV on the Radio, Grandaddy, Radiohead and Grimes as inspiration, Shane began to perform using his guitar in combination with various electronic instruments. With this and his newly developed "Theory of Pop" Shane took up the moniker "Damselfly" to signal this change in direction. As Damselfly, Shane seeks to create new sounds and a meaningful musical community with his loved ones. He hopes to share his journey with as many listeners as there are willing to listen.
