After last appearing on Moon Harbour alongside Sven Tasnadi with a fine collaborative EP, Dan Drastic returns to the label with three new tracks of elastic, stripped back house music that come complete with a remix from Berlin’s Ian Pooley.  

First up is the title track, which is stuffed with eerie and slightly unsettling ambiance, not least in part thanks to the paranoid vocal muttering that drifts in during the second half. All around are icy hi hats, feathery snares that sound as if they are played by a real person rather than programmed, and an infectious kick clap combo that rides up and down in a crisp fashion. 

Ian Pooley, still riding high off the success of his latest full-length album, turns in a fine remix of the same track. It’s a more driving and militant interpretation that pushes forward with heavy kick drums and restless percussion.  Pushing on and on throughout it’s prime dancing material that never becomes too functional thanks to the deft synths and jazzy late night chords that colour the backdrop. 

Dan Drastic’s ‘Crawl Space’ is another deep number with unusual sonic details; scratches, scrapes and woody hits add plenty of texture to the smooth pad patterns behind the mood overall is a positive and purposeful one that drives you to the edges of the cosmos and back again. 
 
Finally, ‘Dead Freight’ gets a little freaky, with alien synthesized sounds appearing left right and centre of a crunchy, headsdown groove.  An unsettling, tinkling melody lurks far off in the distance adding a sense of scale to the whole thing: it’s spacious but you never get lost, instead always listening in awe at the weirdly wonderful sounds filling your ears. It’s funky, too, in its own night time way, and like everything hear demands to be played loud on intimate dancefloors.

Following on from previous standout Inhouse compilations on Moon Harbour comes the latest instalment, Volume 6. This time with 12 exclusive tracks presented digitally and on a 2 x 12” vinyl pack, young label associate Marco Faraone has also gone to work on fusing them all together into one magical set that will be available upon release. The compilation features music from a range of producers – some have been with the label a while, some are newer recruits, but all of them fit in with the internationally acclaimed and renowned Moon Harbour aesthetic. This compilation once again proves that Moon Harbour evolves and experiments with subtle new sounds each year. What’s more, the label always stays true to their groove focussed; dancefloor aligned house sound whether they call upon experienced old stars or hot new protégés alike.
