De - Baarsjes

The first place I stayed at in Amsterdam was a houseboat on Het Boeringwetering in De Pijp. A chilly friday in December.

Boeringwetering

In 331west we had found our "home" in Amsterdam. We established a cafe, gallery and workspace and ran it for three months. Alas, it had to come to an end. Some of my more treasured moments from my trip are locked in that building! This track is based around Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" -- one of our favourite songs, and potentially the anthem of our trip!

I’ve been writing and creating electronic soundscapes—beats, bleeps, and everything in between—since 2000. Over the years, my work has explored the tension between structure and chaos, weaving together ambient textures, fractured rhythms, and subtle imperfections. Whether through sweeping soundscapes or glitchy, off-kilter beats, my music embraces both the polished and the raw, finding beauty in the spaces between.

Each project explores a different facet of my sonic curiosity. From sparse, atmospheric compositions to dense, rhythmic explorations, these projects reflect a fascination with contrast: simplicity and complexity, noise and silence, the organic and the synthetic. Each sound is intentional, yet always leaves room for the unexpected—an evolving conversation between machines and imagination. It’s music that doesn't clamour for attention but slowly unfolds, rewarding those willing to drift into its depths.

At the heart of it all is a love for the little details—the textures that hum beneath the surface, the imperfections that give a sound its soul. My music lives in the margins, in the quiet spaces and the sudden bursts of noise. It’s the electricity before a storm, the breath before sleep, and the fleeting warmth of light just before it fades. It's the beauty of restraint, the resonance of decay, and the endless possibilities of sound itself.
