Dan Nilsson (Songwriter/Guitarist/Vocalist) has written, recorded and published over a hundred songs (and other compositions) in a range of genres, but it’s the Blues that keeps getting in the way! 

After graduating from Improvisation Studies at the V.C.A (in the early ‘90s) Dan headed to New York to further his musical journey. Seven years, three albums and a child later, he returned to Melbourne, where (amongst other things) he has led Blues and ‘Fusion’ bands: The Soul Fools, Strayhorn and Rufus Stone, recorded several more albums and EPs of his original music, and has done a two-year stint on radio - presenting the popular show ‘On The Corner’ (3PBSFM)

As well as all this, Dan has taught instrumental music in Melbourne high-schools for many years, as well as working as a 'sideman', for artists such as Jeremy Woolhouse and the bands ‘Tatu Rei’ and WHTSQR.

Dan has recently recorded an eleven song 'solo project' album (titled ‘Everything Doesn’t Matter’) which is set for commercial release in mid 2014.

Along with this, he is currently busy putting together a new 'Blues & Roots' band (to be called The Mannish Water Band) which should be coming soon to a venue near you....

In his music and lyrics Dan is searching for answers to the questions which have haunted songwriters since songwriting began. Questions such as: What is the meaning of life? Why doesn’t she love me any more? And why does the same worn out, old cotton tee shirt, bring more comfort than all the lovers it has outlived….??  With a rich baritone voice, and a  mellow (yet biting) guitar tone, Dan answers the best he can….
