Over the last few months I have wandered back through my collection of music and buried within it are so many hidden gems - B-sides, remixes, pimps & freaks, tracks that should have been played out and tracks that have had a huge influence on how I play. So after a few months of digging and another few weeks of fiddling - here is the final recording - a full length 90 minute journey featuring the weird and the wonderful from the last few years. Deep House melodies and Deep Techno basslines at its core, this one should rattle the subs and cans.

A year ago today a little miracle happened - after a long wait my second child Luke came into the world to finally join us. Over the last 12 months I have watched this little soul unfold into a beautiful child bringing the immense love and innocence that only a child can bring.  It is now so hard to imagine my life without him and like every dad I look to his future and hope music will play as a big a part of his life as it is has in mine - and hence this very personal mix. 12 tracks for the 12 months he has been with me. Each beautiful track has a special place in my collection none of which have ever been played out. This truly personal mix is dedicated to all the dads out there who are as passionate about music in their lives as I am. And of course to my little Dragon Child Luke.

Gates Of Dawn

The inspiration behind this mix is a club in Singapore called Home Club. Every city around the world has a club that is regarded as truly underground. There to cultivate grass roots music and there without compromise to stay true to the music that it believes in. Home Club was that club in Singapore. And after 9 great years the club has  recently pulled the plug and closed it doors, ready to evolve as a venue into the next chapter of its journey. 9 years is a long time in club land and over the years the club built its reputation around truly underground music - Indie, Techno, dub step and drum & bass. As Digging Deep we enjoyed playing there many times, often to packed houses and it is a chapter of my Djing life that will I never forget. Much respect goes to Kelvin Tan and Roy Ng and all the crew that worked there because without their passion for great music and supporting the local scene,  club venues like Home Club would never keep this side music alive. Everyone has a Home - a place where they feel the most connected, the most free and even the most alive.  Wherever that place is and whatever the music you are into - give it your full support. It makes all the difference.

I probably would never have played half the tracks in this mix at Home Club at the time but they are tracks that should have been played there as they would have tested that awesome sound system and taken you on a proper journey. Featuring a selection of new material from Dixon, Mantu, Sowiesco & Co and Eagles & Butterflies and some older tracks from Dauwd and Sandrino, this mix is dedicated to all that made Home Club so very special.

Kicking off with the beautiful Rampue remix of 'Hope" this mix kicks off at 112 bpm and never gets past the 120 bpm mark. Hopefully something to enjoy either side of the darker hours. Enjoy.

Sometimes

2 weeks ago I realised that I had been playing on my faithful 1200's for 25 years. Sometimes I find it unimaginable that these trusty turntables would have taken me on such a journey and that a quarter of a century later, the magic this music brings me is as alive as ever. So... a mix to celebrate 25 years of music. It was hard to pick tracks for this mix but I wanted all the fundamentals in this one - Deep House, Deep Techno and a splash of old school Progressive. A new year and at last a first mix to share. Over the ten years I have lived in Asia, the one time of year I have come to love is monsoon season. This year was one of the most potent displays of mother nature I have experienced and indeed inspired the selection of tracks that match all the moods and feelings I have as the rain approaches and falls. First Light

Dedicated to my wonderful wife and all the amazing women around the world who fight so hard to bring beautiful loving children into this world, I hope this deep melancholic journey goes a little way to capturing their story. Shades Of Purple

Dan Paris started DJing back in the early rave days of house music in 1990 and now has well over 30 years of house music in his collection. ‘Born’ into the rave culture of the late eighties, Dan’s roots lie firmly in the deeper, techier and more progressive side of the beloved 4-4 beat. One of the duo that brought the underground Midnight Feast parties to the emerging club scene in London in 1992, he has played to packed houses in many of the truly ground breaking clubs in London including the Ministry Of Sound, Brixton Academy and RAW and even enjoyed a residency with Journeys By DJ at one of London’s finest clubs - The End. 

Since moving to Singapore in 2002, Dan has continued to evolve his sound and kept true to the underground side of House music and has enjoyed regular appearances at whole host of private underground parties both here in Singapore and in SE Asia including the legendary Sanctuary Music Festival. He is appreciated for building custom sets for every venue he plays at, creating unforgettable journeys that wander through all his musical genres. 

In 2009, together with 2 other likeminded UK DJ’s, Dan launched the highly acclaimed Digging Deep series of parties, which were a regular fixture of the Singapore underground scene for 6 years with a series of parties around the island at what are now iconic clubs like Home Club, StereoLab, Soul Kitchen & Kilo. 

Still a turntable DJ at heart, I now play by invitation at various clubs around Asia.
