A musical celebration of the late and incredibly great Quincy Jones.

This track began 5 years ago as a mini adventure inspired by the amazing documentary about Quincys life, shot and produced by his daughter- Rashida Jones. While waiting for a journalist to sit down and interview him he drums his fingers on the table in front of him. That's what you can hear in the first few bars, with every other sound being something Quincy has written and recorded at some point in his time here on earth. 

An interesting point being that the trumpet part was added afterwards. This being a solo in Lionel Hamptons band aged 19. The part is just happened to be in exactly the right key and timing for this track and fitted straight in with no time or pitch stretching required! Serendipity incarnate.

Releasing this track officially through a label would have been nigh on impossible since its made entirely from samples from Quincy's work, so other than sharing it with the odd friend from time to time, it has lounged on my PC for 5 odd years. Now feels as right a time as any to share it with the world, and to celebrate in some small way a life so musically brilliant and diverse so as to remain an indelible inspiration for a galaxy of generations to come.

I would like to add that any money (if any) generated by this track, I intend to pledge to IBAM, one of the organisations that Quincy supported. 
IBAM supports educational programs and scholarships for students pursuing music, helping to create opportunities for Black musicians and keep the legacy of Black American music alive.
