Portugal based super selector Andrey Pushkarev has surely been on everybody’s radar for some time now. His sublime choices from his timeless record collection knows no bounds and his sets are so revered that he is able to straddle a great many genres with ease. He has hooked up with Eli Verveine, an artist that is also very adept at reading the room and delivering just the right piece of wax at the right time, but always with enough of a twist to keep the dancefloor guessing and more important locked in the groove. In anticipation of our next event at Shelter with Margaret Dygas, we would like to share with you a little nostalgia inducing souvenir from our previous event with Ricardo Villalobos. Our very own Reiss had the challenging task of setting the mood during the opening hours of night that so many were looking forward to. Slowly building up the vibe and tension in the room, while anticipation for the appearance of our guest of honour was gradually progressing towards its apex. Brother in beats Ferro upped the levels during his set and when Ricardo finally appeared in the booth, the energy in the room was electrifying before the man even played his first record. The rest is history.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’ve teamed up with @fabric to bring you this mix from Swiss minimal techno stalwart Sonja Moonear, recorded live at the club back in the autumn of 2019 and all we can say is that it’s a special one.
 
Sonja @moonear has been associated with the iconic London institution for 13 years and counting, including bringing her legendary back-to-back sessions with Ricardo Villalobos to Farringdon. The Geneva-based DJ prefers to let the music do the talking, having grown through her residency at the city’s underground playground Weetamix from 2002 onwards, building her reputation via releases and remixes on labels such as Karat and Perlon with which she has particularly close ties, having met label boss Zip at a Weetamix night back in 2001. 
 
Since day one, she’s juggled running her own Ruta5 label with a day job as a sound designer for the Swiss national TV channel RTS, giving her the freedom to stay true to her musical beliefs by not having to compromise on playing inadequate gigs for misleading reasons. The truth is on the dancefloor! 
 
Over the last decade, Sonja has developed close relationships with clubs all over Europe, from fabric here in London to Goa Club in Rome, Robert Johnson in Frankfurt, the recently opened Mutabor in Moscow and Lux Frágil in Lisbon. It’s a reflection of her versatility that she’s as likely to appear on the bill of large-scale festivals like Awakenings and Time Warp as she is to pop up at a little sweaty underground club. This summer’s bookings alone see her lined up for Craig Richards’ Houghton and the second instalment of the Wigflex festival in Nottingham, plus an appearance at the tiny, invite-only Headroom festival on a permaculture farm in the foothills of the Black Mountains near Abergavenny.
 
This mix was recorded midway between Junki Inoue and Rhadoo’s sets during a fabric night entirely devoted to surgical percussions and restrained melodies drawing from every corner of electronic music.

Sonja Moonear’s International Women’s Day mix for Juno Records x fabric

Darlings, this is my first home recorded podcast since the mix for Fuse, quite a few years back. The Loser Records Berlin posse pushed me to record one and I happily surrendered. I played for them at the Wilde Renate at the end of February. It was one of the last gigs before, well, things unfolded.
The atmosphere at the packed club was outstanding and the boys and girls from Loser were lovely company, I felt very well cared for.

I am very happy with the mix. I hope you enjoy it as I do.

Loser Podcast 018 - Rozzo (Mountain People)

Born and raised in Gera in Germany, Dana Ruh soon found her way to the capital city of Berlin. Since then, she ha been on a constantly evolving musical journey. In the early years, her sound was rooted in techno and landed most often on the label Brouqade Records, which she established in 2007. The label is still running too, and celebrated its 10th Year Birthday Celebration entitled 'Past/Present/Future' that emphatically encapsulated all that's great about the label. 
Aside from Brouqade, Dana's music has also featured on the liked of Autoreply, Work Them Records, Howl and Underground Quality. It was Jus Ed's label where she released her stunning debut album. 'Naturally' in 2014, an LP that introduced Dana to a whole new audience and showcased her pure house sound with some distinctions. In 2017 she started her new Label 'Cave Recordings' that showcased her wide musical range mainly rooted in House with old school flavor. 
When she isn't busy in the studio crafting textured tracks, Dana is a fine DJ who holds down resident duties at top Berlin space, Club der Visionaere. It is there that she lays down seductive tracks from the worlds of house and techno as well as gems in between. Aside from her beloved CDV, Dana has played in some of the globe's foremost house and techno nightclubs, often alongside some of the scene's prime movers and shakers. 
Despite working in such an over saturated and competitive field, Dana Ruh manages to speak louder and more coherently that most, and for that reason she deserves all the love she gets.
