Emerging Italian producer @D3070 shares his name with a type of flamethrower; quite apt given the amount of flame emojis that have been dropped in the comments sections of where his debut release on CYBERDOME has been teased. This imprint is the sub-label of esteemed @10-pills-mate

At what point does a new tool or technology become so integral to a process as to be intrinsic? And what happens if that technology starts to subordinate its user? 

By reflecting on these questions Machine Alliance, the new EP by Irish producer Kerrie on Tresor Records, connects her music to the sci-fi origins of techno and electronic music in general.

With inspiration from classic books and films of the genre such as The Machine Stops, The Matrix, and Blade Runner as well as modern explorations in art and philosophy like Free Your Mind and Technopoly, the EP's title takes on two opposing but intersecting meanings. 

One, based on the potential for machines to take over or replace humans, is a key idea of sci-fi that seems closer to reality with the arrival of machine learning and real artificial intelligence.

The second has a much more positive view, one where the "alliance" is between the artist and machine to create the music, a process she places immense value on, being both cathartic and therapeutic, whilst also being a vehicle of addition and expansion:


"I feel that it's a collaboration&hellip;the machines are precise in their timing and I add the human touch (literally) in the live performance which adds natural imperfections, so we both provide something the other can't. There's also an element of growth; the machines get updates and so are always expanding in terms of their musical capabilities. And the more I push my own technical abilities I feel we are growing together in a constant synchronised dance."

This "dance" results in four tracks (plus three digital-only bonuses) of classic machine funk which combine the aforementioned ideas in sci-fi with a deep lifelong affection for techno. Tracks like Ode to the D, and Technopoly Dream display this love through her choice of sounds and structure, both intentional and subconscious, while Replicants, and Human in the Loop project into other genres to fully round this release off as a contemporary example of music rooted in both past and future.

Tresor Records are excited to announce the new EP from machine techno luminary Lady Starlight aka Colleen Martin. Capricorn Rising comprises five razor-sharp cuts from the acclaimed producer, DJ, and Surgeon co-conspirator whose laser-focused work ethic reflects the EP's astrological namesake. 

Capricorn Rising is anchored by the record's most propulsive, trance-inducing cut, "Mass;" an off-kilter conversation between chattering birds and a breathing sample that makes for an otherworldly melody. "I wanted to create a feeling rather than a sound," explains Martin of the catalyst for the record. 

Martin describes the recording of Capricorn Rising as a cathartic process. "I thought of myself as fearless since I have always rejected societal norms and I'm very comfortable expressing ideas," she offers. "However, I realised I actually had a lot of fear when expressing anything emotional." 

The EP is the outcome of shaking off that fear. Using her feelings as a guide, Martin creates a space somewhere between euphoria, dissociation, and wonder. "This is where I hope to take the listener," she says. 

This emotional liberation peaks on "Reinforce," which sidesteps towards extraterrestrial acid and swirling, cosmic pads that reach for a new dimension. Meanwhile, "Chapter 23" is an industrial-dipped roller that creaks with eerie atmospherics before erupting into a meteor shower of kicks. This percussive workout continues on "Prism," which makes a plea for bodily oblivion. 

Martin often closes out her live sets with the EP's euphoric title track; a seamless, starry-eyed slammer that encapsulates the headiness of the Lady Starlight universe. Oiled and limbered for the dancefloor, these are dynamic, teflon-tough techno tracks that deftly align with Martin's virtuosic hardware performances.

Pink Concrete describes himself as someone who 'does pink touches to concrete music'. You can feel this happening both in his productions and mixes, as he is not afraid to add something light-hearted to techno music: he always travels through a range of emotions, with a hint of melancholia permeating his sets.

Originally from Istanbul, he moved to Prague in 2015, where he has stayed ever since. The city's underground electronic music scene, full of life and creativity, was the perfect soil in which his clubbing vision could flourish: his contributions to the scene involve hereandthere, which curates overnight happenings through sound, light, and space in temporary, one-night locations, and Pinkies, club nights where international guests are invited to the infamous Ankali booth.
