Throughout seven tracks oozing burnt kerosene and depleted uranium residue merged with a hint of sacred incense, Sansibar deploys his extra-wide vision for the present and future of dance music.
Here we choose the cranking the 2-step/garage power levels up a notch via “Fantasmas” which sends us spinning into orbit right away.

For this 142nd Premiere of 2022, we have a track by "REKAB" titled ‘In Search Of The Deep Sea Dweller’ from his forthcoming EP "Back in Flight" on the Belgian label : Nightflight Records.

ReKab aka James Baker from the UK started Djing in the early 90’s. Later on he started playing around with music. Finally the ReKab sound was established in 2019 with his first release on Where We Met records. Other releases followed soon on Móatún, Withhold, Intellitronic Bubble, We’re Going Deep and Fourier Transform.
His music is very deep and full of emotions and influenced by his love for Detroit.

The EP will be available from June 15, 2022 on Vinyl on all good record shops & on digital exclusively on Bandcamp.

Four killer tracks of high grade electronic soul from James Baker AKA REKAB. A fantastic EP showing both breadth of style and respect for the roots and traditions of the music from this artist.

The first, Locked on Dodge, is a driving deep Detroit techno track with a hypnotic arpeggiated lead and filtered atmospherics to lose yourself inside. Don’t get too comfortable though, it’s capped with a surprise electro switch in the breakdown to keep the floor on their toes!

The second track, We Need to Care, delivers a cool clear synth sound design over Chicago influenced house tempo beats and lush pads. Simultaneously groovy and comforting, this is a track for those special moments. Jacking with your eyes closed and a big grin on your face.

Third we have a clear tribute to Drexciya with In Search of the Deep Sea Dweller. Tough 808 beats and laser zaps punch through a bed of evocative strings whilst a filtered single note loop rises and falls like the tide. An abstract robotic voice presides over the track, adding atmosphere whilst giving it a sense of mysterious machine driven intelligence.

Lastly, Too Much Time gets its space boogie on. Electro funk beats jump round staccato synth chords and a simple but effective Moog-like bass line. Once the scene is set, a writhing 303 joins the proceedings accompanied soaring pads and beautiful melodic leads that make you feel like you’re being lifted into the cosmos.

It called for nights sat by the river or lazing in the park, constantly following the sun until the last sliver of day light melted away beyond the horizon. If only every day could be like this. As soon as summer appeared it seemed to slip away again, as if it were teasing you... or warning you...

Yet more heat coming from the R.A.N.D Muzik Recordings camp - this time courtesy of Gnork. The Hungarian producer makes his debut on the Leipzig-based label with a batch of cosmic, spaced out house and breaks. Known for previous releases on the likes of Magicwire, Church, Unknown To The Unknown and Earth Plates, Gnork's dreamy blend of twinkling melodies, lush pads and warm shuffling beats are on display yet again across the EP's five tracks.

Yaleesa Hall is back on his home label Will & Ink with two EPs in quick succession. After releasing his debut album in 2016 this is the first solo output from the Amsterdam based producer on the label. This first EP is entitled Zoe Hayley Laura and features a trio of tracks that melt electro, techno and broken beats in arresting ways. Opening up the EP is Zoe Price, a silky electro track with shooting synths and big downward bass strikes that add real depth. It's a urgent and arresting affair to wake up the floor. Hayley Roach then has much more forceful drums that come in one two punch combinations to the gut. Synths writhe and gurgle up top as pads rise up and down the scale and the whole thing is brilliantly large. Laura Pomeroy then rocks back and forth on its heels, with train track like percussion and malfunctioning machine stabs. It’s a real tussle between different elements and locks you right in as a result. Once again then, the irrepressible Yaleesa Hall leads from the front.

Gentrified Underground presents an interdisciplinary project
tackling the sonic fiction & afrofuturism of Drexciya. 
Thought as an extension to the Bubble Chamber exhibition happening at Mikro & UP STATE Zürich, GU releases a 2x12 vinyl compilation and a booklet with contributions by Abdul Qadim Haqq, Charlie Mills, chukwumaa, Dominiqueh White, Gentrified Underground, Maïté Chéniere and tracks by Xor Gate (Gerald Donald), Shawescape Renegade, DJ Dijital, Plant43, The Exaltics, Kuldaboli, Iko, Tom Ware, Luz1e and Sansibar.

The goal of this compilation is to showcase the reach and influence which Drexciya had through generations of electronic music producers and also link them together with compositorial predecessors from the early 80s. The musical timeline on this compilation starts from 1982 and reaches its contemporary end in 2019.

"More than twenty years after their first release, the sonic
fictions produced by Drexciya, the Detroit based electronic
duo founded by James Stinson and Gerald Donald at the
start of the 1990s, continues to enthral contemporary
cultural practitioners. By reimagining the Transatlantic
Slave Trade as a fiction of enforced mutation, the Drexciya
mythos opened, and continues to open, a speculative space
for the reimagining of the posthuman condition, and for
questions of becoming, origin and mutation in relation
to capitalism, finance and futurity." - Kodwo Eshun

The booklet contains unseen and unreleased Drexcyan drafts by Abdul Qadim Haqq, an interview between him and GU, contemporary art contributions by chukwumaa, Dominiqueh White and Maïté Chéniere and an academic essay by Charlie Mills.
