Since launching in early 2016, the Explorations series returns for its fourth outing. Having previously welcomed artists such as Theo Kottis, Tontario, Modd and Luttrell to the label, ‘Anjunadeep Explorations 04’ introduces more new faces to the family.

Previously one-half of production duo Journeyman, Dom Furlonge makes his debut outing under his new Antic alias with EP opener ‘And I Pray’. Dom showcases his own vocals and distinctive production flair on this quirky club cut.

Our second track brings together the Bath-based duo Kotu and Munich’s Sam Goku on ‘Ascension’, blending a subtle rolling bassline with soaring strings and sparse piano to wonderful effect. A much sought after ID from recent Anjunadeep Editions from James Grant and Dom Donnelly.

Next up is emerging German talent Ben Böhmer with ‘Flug & Fall’. Ben fuses organic elements, vocal chanting and warm melodic grooves in this uplifting number.

Closing the EP, Melbourne’s GMJ and Matter debut with throwback progressive gem ‘Earthless’.

The 173rd release on Ready Mix comes from young Iranian producer DSM. Having appeared on our label twice before, remixing Helios Fort and supplying an original track 'Adventure' for our 2016 ADE Sampler, DSM now takes center stage with an EP entitled 'Rapture'. 

The EP's title track 'Rapture' opens with cinematic synths and builds gradually into a swirling, atmospheric deep house cut, punctuated with fragments of melody, like a half-remembered dream. 'Adventure' slows the tempo a little and sets up a compelling and hypnotic groove, utterly beautiful in its sheer simplicity.

Probably best known for his wonderful remix of the Moti Brothers track 'Underground' released on Ready Mix last year, Georgian producer EKE provides the package's only remix. His version of 'Adventure' introduces floaty chords and fragile piano notes before letting loose with a warm synth bass, perfect for sunset on the terrace.

Theres a tale of a place where there was no time, no shame, pure happiness and freedom, it was called the Bar 25.
I discovered the Bar 25 in my early teens and all the pictures that i saw and the music that came out of this place inspired in me a wonderful, naive picture of night life. It grew at a time before i really knew what things like drugs and escapism were, only on the love for freedom to be whoever you want, flashy colourful lights and electronic music.
I still carry this picture with me and will never stop believing in it. When i watched the Bar 25 Movie again recently and this one little piece of music by the absolutely insane @reecode came on, i felt this image bloom in my chest and i wanted to honor this place and thank it for were it brought me.

That jolt of creativity: Ideas rush like shoals from the brain to the eyes and back again. They flex and move in unison but only one will hit the target… It’s down to you to make sure you use it well. Such is the case of any Amberoom session where Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan. A hive mind that thrives on the rush of ideas at any one jamming session. 

As with their debut earlier this year, the concept is simple; grooving on machines with no premeditated intention but to dig deep into the vibe that choose to materialise through their collaborative spark that day… And letting it grow. 

Case in point: ‘Minoo’, a deep shimmering groove that’s so soft, hazy and warm it teeters right on the edge of Balearica while the piano and cleverly weaved percussion maintain energy and focus. ‘Craft’ continues the trip with a mischievous psychedelic glint in its eye. A mutated technoid afrobeat leads east into the thick sandstorm of synths that spiral, rise and tower like ancient pyramids. And just when you think they can’t rise any more, new heights a revealed. 

Finally ‘Klark’ seals the deal with a looser-limbed mystical handshake. Reminiscent of DJ Gregory’s early Faya Combo releases with a subdued Latin chord sequence, shuffled beats and a dusky atmosphere that could go on forever, it’s the end of yet another creative tale from Amberoom. A tale where ideas do the driving and the players are mere conduits. We told you they’d be back on Ovum soon… We look forward to their return.

Man of the moment Felix Dickinson ramps up the tension with a modern jack track by intensifying the bass, introducing firing drums and darker pads. Clandestino themselves turn out an energetic, organic version premiered here. Rich with afro-centric drums, layered with an ethnic chant and lush forest atmospheres. ‘Santa Monica’ takes a slower pace; gentle sunset chords complement marimba hits and atmospheric key stabs.
