Having been active since the mid-nineties D’Julz has been pivotal in the progression of high-grade house and techno with just the right amount of funk and tech. We can’t discuss D’Julz without mentioning his genre-defining imprint Bass Culture Records and its lineage is just as impressive. For the eagle-eyed followers amongst you, you will have noticed that D’Julz has recently gone full circle with the rerelease of one of his first-ever records. Spring arrives, and with it, the new DSSmix by Tripmastaz. An artist with over two decades of experience in the music industry, delivering an endless spectrum of sounds and collaborating with figures like Ricardo Villalobos and DJ Sneak.

As a DJ, he has made his mark on some of the world's most prestigious festivals and clubs, including Sunwaves, Caprices, Boiler Room, and Hoppetosse, among others.

1. How and where was the mix recorded?
This mix was recorded in my studio with a pair of turntables and my custom made isolator EQ.

2. Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
I picked the records I felt at the moment and some of them are freshly bought and let them flow from one into another.
My focus most of the time is on the energy and groove flow of the set. And floating between styles and different eras of course.

3. What are you up to next? Projects, ideas…
I've just released and EP on one of my sub-labels called Respect The Craft.Legacy. These trax are pretty special to me as they were started back in 2003 and been sitting on my harddrive unfinished until the last year. The record is called 2003 Filez EP.
A few more EPs are in the pipeline. And summer is coming, open air gigs and all that good stuff. Also my party Respect the Craft in Golden Gate and Renate in Berlin this spring and summer.

4. Lastly, for you what is Dance, Shake, Swing!?
For me these are all necessary elements to a proper, great party. 🙂
