Mauricio Barembuem (aka Barem) perfectly personifies the breed of electronic musicians who has grown up in the digital age, using intuitive software to spontaneously express ideas and emotions. Online distribution has also made it possible for them to reach out and connect with audiences across the globe, no matter where they are – Buenos Aires for example, where Barem grew up amid the hustle and bustle of a city on the edge.

After an extensive period of touring with DJ performances at some of the biggest events around like the Detroit Movement Festival, Mutek Montreal, Timewarp Mannheim, Miami’s WMC, ADE, Ibiza’s Monza, Cocoon, ENTER., Ushuaia… not to mention 2009’s Contakt special at Brixton Academy and the Minus North American bus tour, Barem built an extensive catalog of remixes between trips under a very wide range of labels. That all changed in 2011 with the release of his debut album ‘After The Storm’, which had an incredible reception from both media and fans, and also marked the return of his Live sets for a limited period of time. 
2015 saw him depart from his beloved Minus to find new challenges and open up the spectrum, with releases on Sci+Tec, Rhythm Cult and again, several remixes. Having a new horizon in front, he teamed up with his friend and music partner Alexis Cabrera to form their own Fun Records label.

In the endless sea of producers and selectors, only a few leave a lasting impression. They are the niche artists, individuals that push sonic boundaries into new territory with skill, and purpose. Over the last 5 years Silat Beksi has made quite the impression on minimal music lovers across the globe by doing just that. Utilising his own unique combination of rhythms & special imprinted textures to craft emotive and energetically charged pieces of music. 

This was recognized early on with labels like Romaniaís Tzinah Records, Moscowís Body Parts and Ukranian imprint Mulen Records offering him a platform through which to release and refine his musical style. In 2014 this culminated in the release of Silat's first full length album, with ten wondrously diverse minimalist cuts seeing a digital release on Mulen. Having achieved this milestone, the talented producer dedicated himself to the perfection of his craft with a renewed determination, going vinyl only and launching his own imprint Modeight Records in 2016. Itís a label family that boasts some of the hottest new talent in minimal house and techno, giving rise to producers such as Germanyís Durrrred & Romanian young guns Dragutesku and RQZ. Their intuitive and forward thinking approach to minimalist music is creating sonic ripples throughout the global underground scene, challenging the existing boundaries of the genre once again.  

Fast forward to the present and Silat Beksi has amassed an enviable body of 12î releases on his journey so far. Cementing himself as one of the most inform talents in Europes underground scene with releases on labels like Germanyís almighty Pleasure Zone, Welsh imprint Dreams Are Not Inside, What You Want, Vivus Records and of course his own imprint Modeight. His sound continues to morph and develop, defying classification with it's heady combination of techno ís rhythmic sensibility, breakbeat influence and warm atmospheric textures that hypnotise and excite.

Max. began his journey into electronic music in the late ‘90s, starting out in Italy with his first set of Pioneer 500 CDJs and a growing collection of underground sounds. What began as a fascination with mixing tracks on CDs quickly evolved into a deep appreciation for the rich culture of underground music, inspiring a move to London, a city revered as a haven for vinyl collectors and a mecca for clubbing enthusiasts.
Once in London, Max. fell head in love with vinyl, immersing himself in the city’s unparalleled record scene. At a time when finding unique and original pressings was a true hunt, London became his treasure trove. This passion naturally evolved into artistry, blending his love for digging with the craft of DJ'ing.

By the early 2000s, Max. had joined forces with Julius & Jamma as part of the Bread & Butter collective, where he took on dual roles as a resident DJ and promoter. Together, they curated unforgettable events across the U.K.'s capital, hosting a roster of international stars and celebrated locals. Over the years, he has without doubt left his mark on iconic clubs and underground venues alike, becoming a staple of London’s vibrant electronic scene.

Max.'s passion for pushing boundaries in electronic music led to the founding of Bread and Butter Recordings, a vinyl-only label celebrated for curating cutting-edge tracks from rising stars and established talent alike. The label became a platform for showcasing diverse sounds, with a particular spotlight on Romania’s most innovative producers. To amplify its presence, Bread and Butter Recordings extended its influence through engaging radio shows on Hoxton FM and Bloop, connecting with audiences and tastemakers across the electronic music spectrum. Building on this momentum, Max. also co-launched Enfasi Records with Davide Decay, reinforcing his commitment to unearthing and championing groundbreaking artists. Together, these two labels reflect Max.’s unwavering dedication to nurturing talent and enriching the global underground music scene.

With decades of experience, a deep appreciation for vinyl culture, and an unwavering commitment to the underground, Max. remains a vital figure in the London underground electronic music scene—where passion meets precision, and every set tells a story.
