Premiere: A2 – Muelsa – Realistic Way [VLS06]

Oslo-based collective & label, Det Gode Selskab hit launch with another extensive release this autumn. The compilation is presented by five characters, the “Slimey Gumballs”. Each of the gumballs will represent their own sector of the compilation, with one being released into the wild on a bi-weekly basis from 22nd October onwards. Each of the gumballs varies in colour, flavor and personality and is a nod of acknowledgment towards the acid smiley of the past rave era. Floaty ethereal synths maneuver their way around a snappy electro body in “Wide Pop” from Philipp Boss & Kuyateh.

Adding to what already has been a tremendous year for the Berlin-based producer, Nat Wendell returns home for his third release on his very own imprint, Depths of My Soul. On the surface, DMS 003 may appear to be vintage—and pulsating—Wendell. Under the cracks of these three tracks, though, is a producer moving towards music as a tool of political and musical advancement. 

A1’s “Takes These Chains off My Mind” is an explicit cry from liberation away from mental slavery, an anthem for, in the words of Wendell himself, people “emancipating themselves from mental slavery, placed on black and people of colour alike.” 

B1’s “Tha Music” plays on similar ideas of music as liberation, jolting dancers into submission with its rolling hats and snappy arrangements that will easily fit into any house head's bag. Judging by the name, 

B2’s “Questioning Existence” may seem a tad existential—but, taking a late-nite 90’s garage cue from his own hometown, it’s anything but!

Heute präsentiere ich euch mit meiner Nummer 59 einen grandiosen Mix vom jungen Wahl-Berliner Iorie. Erst vor ein paar Tagen hatte er im Kater Blau sein Live-Set Debüt, das auf voller Länge mehr als überzeugt hat.

Musik war schon von früherster Kindheit ein fester Bestandteil in seinem Leben. Neben einer klassischen Musikausbildung kam er auch in den Genuss im Chor zu singen. Mit bereits 15 Jahren entdeckte er die Liebe zur elektronischen Musik und hier konnte er dann alles was er gelernt hat wunderbar zusammenbringen. Als er dann so alt war um die Clubwelt zu erkunden, war er dann auch schon meist hinter den Decks zu finden. 

Neben seinen Releases für Ritter Butzke Studios oder Metanoia, begeistert mich Iorie vor allem durch seine wohl durchdachten Podcasts. Er erschafft mit seinen Sets immer diese gewisse Stimmung die sich nicht in Worte fassen lässt --- frisch, überraschend und faszinierend.

Seit gut 1,5 Jahren betreibt er außerdem die Podcast Reihe / Label Serafin Audio Imprint mit einer grandiosen Künstlerauswahl. Auch hier darf man gespannt sein was einen in nächster Zeit noch so alles erwartet. 

Für sound(ge)cloud hat er sich auch wieder mächtig ins Zeug gelegt und einen Mix gezaubert der minimal und slow und doch treibend und groovig zu gleich ist. 

Lukas vielen Dank für deine Liebe zur elektronische Musik und dieses fantastische musikalische Meisterwerk. Und nun wünsch ich meinen Hörern viel Spaß mit „the berlin hypnosis“ by Iorie.

Our debut vinyl-only EP comes via Neik, alongside a remix by Noha.  The atmospheric frequencies of “Radio Tango” are built for the moments that bookend the party, a slice of building raw euphoria. Then comes the skittering bounce of “Doc Knock,” a cut filled with its own playful sounds that warm and soothe. “Desmaterializado,” and its hurried bassline, turn slightly more experimental without losing its groove. Noha follows up with a dreamy, drum-filled remix fit for dawn as the record draws to a close. These are tracks to reflect on when the magnetism of the night before won’t quite leave you, even as the next one begins.
