I know it's not a DAW issue and I crack the joke that it's really a "skill" issue. EQing is a lovely process but this is giving me another frame of reference to build from.

Finder - Marco Marti (Extended Mix)

Dusty Springfield’s version of this is a stone-cold classic. Over the years it’s been a sampler's favourite with both Sonny Fodera and Maribou State two big names who have crafted a version. Travis Emmons has provided some of our favourite deep house re-rubs over the years (his “Grapevine” rework is an anthem in East London), so when he popped up with this one we were all over it like a powerful moss. When it came to singers, there was only one option too. Darcey has delivered some dynamite for us and her soft jazzy tones are absolutely perfect here. So sit back, press play and enjoy some delicious deepness in the sunshine.

It’s been a minute since we’ve had Sven Kerkhoff on the label. 2021’s big-charting, DJ-friendly classic house of “Hear The Music” is our last collab. That said, we’re big fans of his classic house sound; it’s no wonder that top-drawer labels like Nervous and Henry Street have featured his slow-burning beats. “Need You” began life as a demo that Sven and fellow Germany-based producer Nuray Alkan sent to Kevin McKay. He loved the ideas in it so much, he got involved. The resulting collaboration has touches of Kerkhoff’s influences (DJ Tonka, Ian Pooley), Nuray’s love of classic house and Kevin’s loopy 90s cut-ups (it’s giving us serious “Don’t Turn Your Back On Me” vibes!) So, if disco-fuelled 90s deepness is your thing, this is for you!

As most of you know, we moved to Kreuzberg 2.5 years ago. And while we’d already heard all the stories about the infamous U8 back in Munich, experiencing it firsthand is something else entirely.

Half-asleep people coming home from night shifts.Tourists too drunk to remember what stop they're getting off.Some souls chase highs, others chase lows.

One thing’s for sure: this isn’t the bubble of comfort we knew from other places — this is real life, raw and unfiltered.

This tune is our ode to that chaotic, beautiful in-between.See you on the night train. 

jojo&pepe - in the U8 tonight (4 am mix) - free download

Columbian DJ and producer Cato Anaya follows up his recent Afro house hit for us (“La Noche”) with another Latin-influenced killer. This time collaborating with Presi On (who you will know from his current smash with Renate, Marcus Santoro & Kuuda on Blond:ish’s Abracadabra label (“The World”), the versatile producer leans on another Latin classic for sample inspiration. Even though “Guantanamera” is a Cuban standard, the melody is known around the world and it works perfectly as a breakdown tonic in Anaya & Presi On’s percussion workout. Like Presi On’s release with Blond:ish, we can see this one working with a wide range of DJs, its pulsating groove delivering the kind of energy that will work on lots of floors.

07/24/2024: Listened to a mixing/mastering mindset video and to paraphrase what they said "What are you listening to? And what does your music sound like in comparison?." I realized I've been over complicating a LOT but I still want that experimental flare so back so learning more the fundamental groove they of what I'm trying to produce.

07/16/2024: Actually Trying To Take This A Seriously Seriously. More Time Learning About Mixing n' Mastering, Movement & Dynamics Transitions w/ Groove Theory. Lots Of Songs Around This Time (07/01/2024 -> Onwards) Will Be Practically Me Trying To Really Learn How To Hone Down My Sound So I'd Definitely Check Out The Descriptions Of Some Of the Songs. They Tell Quite A Tale Or Story About My Development.
