French producer Teho makes a swift return to Herzblut to follow up his excellent Hope EP from May this year. His latest work sees him team up with fellow Frenchman and huge talent Tran, who's own music has been described as oscillating between minimal and melodic. Making this partnership a perfect fit. 

Their KOTO EP sees Teho & Tran submerging us in trademark emotional and powerful soundtracks, enhanced further by their use of the wonderful sounds of the Orient. Lead cut Asakusa elegantly displays its power through its pulsing one note bass and opening broken beat pattern. Its liquid flow sees it gather intensity before the Eastern strings echo in its breakdown. On the flip we are treated to more of the same, this time lead by Kabuki's beautiful flutes, warped bassline and plucked string melody. Perfection.

Staying true to one's signature style, but at the same time re-inventing oneself again and again and again: A serious dilemma for many artists. However, it's not for Dole & Kom. Their Salto Mortale EP comes with three productions that are similar yet very different to each other in a fascinating way. The similarity is very sublime, as it seems like pressure and forward thrust evolve out of the context rather than prominent rhythms and sounds. Whereas the atmospheres of the tracks differ greatly. Salto Mortale is based on a voluminous bass line around which delirious melodies materialize from a vortex of sound. Silence comes with symphonic grace and big emotions. When the melancholic beauty of a female voice joins in the whole thing turns into pure epicness. Then again theres Fly Bar which draws its perfidious catchiness from a smart mix of high-octane club grooves and a high amount of sophisticated musicality. French artist Lox D and Montreal based artist Van Did have teamed up on this EP. Combining their talents for building immersive and emotional tracks, the duo have released a collaboration on german label, Traum Schallplatten, a little ago

Lox D and Van Did's music has found support from the likes of Stephan Bodzin, Hernan Cattaneo, Moonbeam, Gabriel & Dresden and Deepfunk, Elena is a good example of their unique, multilayered sound. Warm bassline, enchanting pads and escalating melodies make for an epic opener. Miller is a groovy and progressive composition yet powerful and uplifting.

French artist, Teho, deliver a beautiful and captivating remix of Elena, this young artist from Montpelier has been catching international attention with very solid releases on labels such as Herzblut, Parquet and Manual Music.

Completing the release is remix by FEM, Nantes based DJ and producer who deliver a killer and uplifting rework that retains the energy of the original.

The classically trained musician Worakls surprises with yet another high-quality two tracker for Hungry Music. He dedicates the release and track one to the electro-mechanical, polyphonic tape replay keyboard named Mellotron. The Mellotron was often used by the Beatles, Genesis and King Crimson. It became a notable instrument in progressive rock during the 1960s until the 1980s. Worakls crafts a well balanced musical piece featuring the trademark Mellotron sound, combined with a cutting-edge and warm dance groove. The orchestral atmospheric elements give ‘Mellotron’ that indescribable timeless touch that Worakls delivers so well.

Next up is the dramatic & energy filled ‘Pandemonium” composition. Worakls once again skillfully combines not only two but three musical genres and molds them into an epic dance track. The string section and diabolical brass instruments set the dramaturgical vibe, while the various layers of guitars rock their way into mayhem. The strong 4/4 beat carries the musical elements gracefully and provides full dancefloor compatibility.

Founded during a cold winter night on the island of Grimsey in Iceland, Abe’s focus and aim is to create and conserve timeless moments through their music. Like a formation of Northern Lights that reveal themselves to their spectators, the music of Abe is developed outside of our modern world and its regulations. It’s dark and soulful techno, both simple and complex.

The title track “Our Land” kicks things off on a lavishly transcendental note, with layers of sounds craftily filling the complete frequency spectrum. A bass heavy synth melody and crisp, precise hats compliment each other skilfully, whilst the drums and effects used provide the piece with a much-appreciated organic feel. The over eight minute composition morphs and builds without being obtrusive and is sure to leave its mark on dance floors worldwide.

Next up is the menacing “Black Horse”, which boils gently until it erupts for an ultimate peak time climax. Here we see Abe focusing on the darkest side of their work, fusing a howling bassline with a thrilling arpeggiated melody, energetic shakers and a distinct midrange synth motif. The vibrant percussion and shadowy atmospheres are sure to elevate crowds whenever played on a finely tuned sound system.
