This album explores Dani Lam's relationship with Hong Kong (birthplace of his mother) and is heavily influenced by HK movies, especially The Hong Kong Second Wave, and the soundtracks of James Wong.

The title - 大觀鬼林 (GRANDVIEW GHOST FOREST) - takes its name from a now-defunct film studio (大觀聲片有限公司 /Grandview Film Company) that some of his ancestors set up Hong Kong.
