In February 2016 Midland made his contribution to the hugely influential BBC Essential Mix series. The end of the mix came in the shape of an unreleased track that would go on to soundtrack dance floors and festivals the world over. That track was 'Final Credits.' Since its creation in the depths of winter to its vinyl release in June, with weekly airings everywhere from Panorama Bar to DC10 to Dekmantel Festival, the record has united dance floors and become one of the most unlikely tracks of the year. As the summer disappeared, calls for a full release of 'Final Credits' have swelled, and now, thanks to The Classic Music Company we're delighted to say this is becoming a reality.

RSS DISCO #011 / summer 2019

We're back from Fusion Festival and it was all (more!) we imagined.
Sorry for sounding overly-affectionate here but it's very real. A couple of days of mini-utopia, shared with good people.
It was a sweaty pleasure to soundtrack the 37° heat on Sunday evening. Big thanks to dancers, stage divers & Seebühne crew for making it happen!
Bubbly refreshment drinks got spilled all over us + the equipment but here we are - the music made it out alive and the memories are preserved.

RSS Disco at Fusion Festival 2019

It came as a shock. I still wish that this is a mistake or a misunderstanding...

Andrew came in to do our 3rd episode, when we had no following and nobody really cared about this project. He loved the concept. A bit shy at first, but then all of the stories started pouring out. I could listen to them for the entire day, really. Some of them are in this recording.

I have taken out my hour, and the old jingles I used to use. Listening back to this brings a lot of memories, and the music he played is definitely timeless. Writing is not my specialty, and I did not know Andrew that well to be honest, to put together a long text about him. I do, however, have this recording of him going through, what he thought at the time, his biggest musical influences. A short autobiography, narrated and soundtracked. I wanted there to be nothing else but him. 

He left three records when leaving the studio. We spoke about trying to arrange a meeting for me to bring them, as well as take a few of his pictures using an old soviet Liubitel camera, which he thought looked great when he saw it. But either he was away, busy, or we did not have the film for the camera or time to do it. I am sorry that I never gave the records back, and also sorry that we did not take any pictures, which you really wanted. 

At times like these you wish there was a world beyond our own, but you can't really know. If none of us ever see you again, at least we have something to remember you from.
