Accordingly to Wikipedia,  "Donna Lee" is a bebop jazz standard composed by Miles Davis (originally attributed to Charlie Parker). Written in A-flat, it is based on the chord changes of the jazz standard "(Back Home Again in) Indiana". Beginning with an unusual half-bar rest, "Donna Lee" is a very complex, fast-moving chart with a composition style based on four-note groups over each change.

In 1975, he recorded for the Epic label, his first album as a leader, titled Jaco Pastorius. This is the album that brought him fame. It is true that this record is abounding and gives a good overview of virtuosity and wide musical spectrum Pastorius (jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and Caribbean music). This album contains, among other pieces of anthology, a resumption of standard bebop Donna Lee in duo with percussionist Don Alias, which  I had the great opportunity to jam with in Montreal.(Don Alias not Jaco) 

In the 70s before I heard Donna Lee, I started to think it would be nice to play some of those Bebop standards (that I was not able to play then) in funk ... then for the kick of it I did record it using Band In A Box  in 2008 (referencing to Pastorius while playing the theme! )
