Computerfreaks

A different version of the Pyewackit & The Patch song (see other playlist), recorded live at "Replugged" in Vienna in the fall of 2017, with Benny Sidor (g), Michael Bernstein (bg), Jürgen Spitzmüller (dr), aka the Vinyl Grooves.

Recall that it's a song about a real story, a serial killer who, after years of avoiding capture starts to lure the police, because he's not getting enough attention (BTK stands for "bind - torture - kill").

Im August 2020 wäre Charles Bukowski 100 geworden. Dieses Lied, "Dirty Old Man", habe ich ca. 1984 geschrieben und mit unserer Band "Ich" gespielt. Hier eine Neuaufnahme vom August 2020, angeregt von Martell Beigang, der damals für "Ich" das Schlagzeug gespielt hat (der Dritte im Bunde war Ralf Tonding, Gesang, Saxofon, Gitarre & Bass).

This song is dear to my heart. I wrote it around 2007, when Bush/Cheney where in the White House. I was wondering: What makes people like them so cynical and bitter, so opposed to anything new, so narrow minded? Maybe it's because they never came to terms with their deep fears, the monsters in their closets. The ones that told them to always stick with the way things are done, to never explore, never let the spirit free, never dream. The ones that take any impulse of curiosity, wonder, any quest for learning, and turn it into something contained, ugly and destructive.

It's a long song, but listen to the end: there's an after scene, for hope. This song calls out the demons. Don't be afraid! Don't fear what you don't know! Embrace, and marvel!

I've been a on-and-off hobby musician for the past 40 or so years. These are some of the songs I wrote during that time.
