Little life

I learned this song in kindergarten and it stayed with me. I haven't heard it since then (many decades ago), and it doesn't show up when you search the internet. There aren't too many songs that celebrate the dubious joys of these two months, and it seems very appropriate to post it now. It's a catchy little ditty!

It’s about becoming  the person you wanna be .

The artwork was a photo taken by Noobly in October 1982 on the 20th anniversary of the release of “Love Me Do”. The original Cavern Club being demolished to build a ventilation shaft (that was never actually needed/built).

The new Cavern has stepped out the Ashes on the same site and a visit is highly recommended.

I made this for my little sister; it's a string of cameos about the town where we were born and raised - a suburb of Newcastle Upon Tyne.  Low income, but real world, real people, real troubles, real joy, real love, real communities, real humour, real music, real life.  All in gloriously rough 1960's industrial working class North East England monochrome.

For those of you not from that part of the world, lyric translations back to English are available upon request. :)

Started as a scribble, pretended to be a poem for a while, then I decided to noodle along and then.....  Ah, you know how it is.....in Byker town.

Rope swings underneath
Bull’s eyes from the slaughterhouse

Byker Town

London based singer songwriter Chloe Ray is set to release her debut EP “The Waiting Room” on Jan 23 2016. As well as a loyal following in the UK, Chloe was well received in the U.S. during her recent trip to New York City where she performed every night. 

Chloe found her feet in South London music café and bar, “The Brook”, performing regularly on the same line-up as Grammy nominated songwriter Scott Mcfarnon (Daniel Merriweather, Beyonce)

Over the summer of 2015 she was joined on stage by the talented musicians who feature on the debut EP, including cellist Alex Eichenberger (Lucy Rose/Swampmother) and bassist Dan Stubberfield (Brightlight City)

Multi award nominee producer Andy Brook (Status Quo, Ginger Wildheart, The Frisbys, Coffee Pot Drive) took on the role of recording the EP. There is a raw emotional feel to the EP throughout the four tracks. Underlying exceptional performances are stories of heartbreak, loss, courage and a poignant track addressing the struggles of a unknown musician lost in New York. The EP confronts a raw and honest battle with personal experiences.

The EP was mastered by Grammy nominated engineer Emily Lazar (Sia, Foo fighters, Jeff buckley, Lou reed, Alanis Morissette) at the Lodge in NYC

Chloe has shared the stage with Adam Barry from Merrymouth and Dan Sealy (Ocean Colour Scene) as well as up and coming The Rainband (Paolo Nutini, Kaiser Chiefs, Simple Minds)

More recently Chloe has worked with grime artist Sketchman (Radio 1) on his new album as co-writer and featured artist on the debut single “Paramount” - currently being played on UK based radio stations as well as London Live.
