Egypt-born Barcelona resident Ahmed Raxon has proven himself to be one of the most consistent DJ producers of his generation. His ability to make big room techno FUNKY and highly entertaining has landed him releases on some of techno's finest powerhouses like Cocoon, Drumcode or Ellum. As a standout and highly requested track in Maceo Plex sets over the last year, his Ellum Audio label finally releases Raxon's 'The Cage of Love,' an epic cover of trance classic 'Age of Love'. 

The original 'Age of Love' is a genre and era-defining tune. Despite its legendary status, Raxon is an artist who is more than up to the challenge of reinterpreting it for contemporary dance floors. The Egyptian-born, Barcelona-based artist is an underground mainstay with a fantastic album on Kompakt, top singles on Ellum Audio and Cocoon Recordings and gigs all over the world. He has teased this track at many of them, and it has never failed to light up the dance floor. 

'The Cage Of Love' has an all-new techno feel with a taught bassline and slapping drum funk. The lead synths are molten and futuristic, while the original's vocal adds the iconic hook. The track builds in layers, teasing and then pleasing when it finally drops as the dance floor explodes and the laser-like synths spray about the mix with a life of their own. 

The vinyl comes with extended and instrumental mixes, while digital downloads include the radio edit and extended mixes. 

This is a new high point for Raxon and a bona fide classic in the making from Ellum Audio.

As a DJ, he continues to headline the world’s leading festivals and clubs year in, year out. AVNU is one of Maceo Plex’s most hotly-tipped new acts of recent years, based on the East Coast of Scotland. Last May, he served up his adventurous album ‘Tough To Love But Worth The Effort’ on Ellum, which was the product of two decades immersed in all genres of music and was a storytelling mix of house, electro, synth, techno and pop. 

The superb 'Clickbait (This Ain't Hollywood)' channels Daft Punk into a contemporary slice of robot techno funk. The topical lyrics aim to highlight the disparities between social media influencer lifestyles and the realities of everyday life in mainstream Hollywood and modern-day society in general.

Mein Weg zum DJ 

Ich war schon immer fasziniert davon, wie DJs mit ihrer Musik ganze Clubs in Bewegung bringen und eine einzigartige Atmosphäre schaffen. Schon früh war ich Teil dieser Szene – anfangs als Beobachter, oft als Begleiter von Freunden, die selbst auflegten. Besonders bei den legendären Bertone-Nächten war ich regelmäßig dabei. Ich habe immer bewundert, was hinter dem Pult passiert – und tief in mir gespürt: Das will ich auch. Jetzt ist die Zeit gekommen, meine eigene Energie, meinen Sound und meine Leidenschaft auf das Publikum zu übertragen – und gemeinsam mit allen die Nacht zum Beben zu bringen.

 „SpielRaum“  wie die Idee entstand.

Der Name „SpielRaum“ war schnell gefunden – der Raum, in dem ich heute streame, war schon immer mein persönliches Kreativzimmer. Hier habe ich Musik gemacht, mit Freunden gechillt und Ideen entwickelt. Für mich war klar: Das ist mein Raum zum Ausprobieren, zum Spielen – mein „SpielRaum“.

Wie kam ich zum LiveStream?

Die Idee zu streamen entstand ganz locker im Freundeskreis – zunächst eher als Spaß. Doch der Wunsch, vor größerem Publikum aufzulegen, war bei mir schon immer da. Der Stream bietet dafür die perfekte Plattform: Ich kann mich kreativ ausleben, Reichweite aufbauen und gleichzeitig befreundeten DJs – manche bekannt, andere noch unentdeckt – eine Bühne geben. Es ist eine Win-Win-Situation: Wir feiern die Musik gemeinsam und teilen sie mit der Welt.
