This is a mix from Phil Morse and Terry Pointon, creators of Manchesters longest running clubnight, Tangled. Phil and Terry were the residents in the main room of the Phoenix from 1997 - 2006, playing a euphoric mix of house and trance. This mix is from 2003 and was given out on Tangled's 10th birthday.

Phil & Terry Tangled 10th Birthday mix - 2003

This mix has just been dug from the vaults of Tangled. Its a non-stop mix of classic tunes that shaped the sound of the upstairs room of the Phoenix where Manchesters longest running clubnight was held every week from 1997 - 2006. Tangled is a 2 room clubnight with room1 playing house, techno and trance and room2 playing a funky variety of bass infused breaks and beats. This mix was given out on the 12th birthday at the Phoenix back in 2005.

Tangled Breaks 12th Birthday Classics  2005

This mix was the first ever mix CD given out as a gift to all the Tangled Breaks clubbers who attended Tangled at the Phoenix in 1999. Tangled Breaks - The first CD - 1999

Here is my set from the fabulous Beatherder 2014. This purely vinyl set was played on the Stumblefunk stage at 21.30hrs on the Saturday night. The Stumblefunk tent was a much more intimate stage this year which was perfect for myself and the crowd. The tent was packed and the atmosphere was awesome!!

On Saturday 6th September Manchesters longest running clubnight Tangled closed its doors after 21 years of providing the clubbers of Manchester with a hedonistic soundtrack to rave to on a regular basis. This mix is not the live recording but very similar to the set that was played last in the breaks room from 2.30am - 4am. All the tunes are the same, just a few in a different order due to memory loss. Myself and Tangled Breaks resident Nick Dent went back 2 back for the first hour with myself playing the last half hour. The music was amazing and the atmosphere was electric and ecstatic. Classic breaks anthems from over the years at Tangled. Tune after tune after tune... Tune in, Turn it up, Have it large one last Tangled time!! .... until the reunion in a few years :)

Tangled 21st Birthday - Breaks mix - 2014

Here is the first ever tape i recorded for Tangled Breaks back in 1998. A heavy mix of big beat, breakbeats and old skool flavas which was the foundation of what was to become the longest running breaks night in the world. No tracklist available as i can only remember a few of them unfortunately as there are some crackers on there :)
Apologies for the poor sound but it was ripped from a tape.

This is the first time this old mix of mine has been available to download. Only just found it amongst a big pile of CDs. The mix includes some HUGE Tangled Breaks anthems from back in the day  when the top floor of the Phoenix, Manchester was bouncing to the tunes like... Mekon, Blowfelt, Green Tea, Plumps, Bombscare, Red Pill....  this will take Tangled fans back to those Phoenix nights....oh, the memories!!....or should i say - the lack of them  :)

Phil was co-founder and resident of Manchesters legendary clubnight Tangled that ran for 21 years. A combination of house, trance, techno and breakbeat over two floors at various venues around Manchester. Here is a Phil Morse house mix from 1999 when Tangled was at the Phoenix where Tangled was every week from 1997 - 2006.

Here is a mix from 2002 by Terry Pointon, resident at Manchesters legendary clubnight. This was recorded at the peak of Tangled, when the Phoenix club was packed out every Saturday night with 700 sweaty, smiley ravers. The Phoenix club is sadly now demolished but the Tangled spirit certainly lives on!

The theme of this mix was inspired by my early clubbing days at a dingy dive of a night called Tangled @ Club Phoenix in Manchester. The venue was small and chlostraphobic but it still remains to have been one of the most successful underground house and trance nights in the North West, similar to the Hacienda in many repects. This night had some brilliant resident Dj's including Phil Morse, Terry Pointon, Steve Thorpe, Herbie Saccini and also pulled in regular big name guest Dj's like Hybrid, Hyper and Nick Warren to name but a few.
 
Many of the tracks on this were played in the club regulary and this mix will give you an insight into the magic that was generated by a 'one off' of a club.
