Would be very interested in hearing what the other five midi songs from the game would sound like remastered like this.  I remember there were some neat ideas on them, like the subtle time signature changes on the level 2 track.

The original version of this song was the second one I composed for Parallax Software in 1995.  While I wrote it using a Roland Rap-10, which had an excellent synth engine, the problem was probably only 5% of gamers actually had such a card to play back the MIDI file as designed. I specifically recall the frustration of how each commercial sound card we tested would yield a wide range of results with respect to instrumentation quality on MIDI songs. Although a significant effort was made to handle FM versions, GM versions, GS versions, and custom System Exclusive messages for each possible sound card the user selected at setup, I was never really satisfied with the results of some… Enter the age of digital audio! 

So this version is my way of leveling the playing field - I tried to keep a balance of retro and modern elements. Instruments used:  Eastwest Symphonic Orchestra, Stylus RMX, Moog Memorymoog Plus, Native Instruments Kore2. Hope you enjoy!


Interesting twist here, wasn't expecting the major sound. Prefer the minor myself - seems to fit the mood better - but it's still a most worthy update.

This would be perfect if the ending was a little more like in the original.  I loved that ending.
