Does someone know what the first Track is?

Ah this mix  still sounds as good now as it did when I first heard it 4 years ago. Total quality from two masters of music. R. I. P. Andrew Weatherall, you showed me and many, many other disco dancing bestniks how it should be done.

Recorded live at The Tunnel, Milan on February 5th 2011.

We played two records each all night, Andrew first then me, until the last half an hour of part two where it's one each. I travelled by train with a kidney infection and without a passport for 13 hours each-way to make this one and I'm glad I did. It was a fantastic night, so thanks to Andrew, Diego, Lele and everyone who was there dancing like a mad thing.

I recorded a mix for Mr. Tong's "Essential Mix" radioshow and it will be sent straight into the heart of your ears this Saturday! 👂🏻👂🏼👂🏽👂🏾👂🏿

Really happy to say at least a third of the mix consists of music made or released by friends - a constant inspiration in my life! ❤️

I also wanted to give a bit of context, as I had two inspirations for this mix:

1. The beginning of an Auden poem called "On This Island" 🏝

"Look, stranger, at this island now
The leaping light for your delight discovers,
Stand stable here
And silent be,
That through the channels of the ear
May wander like a river
The swaying sound of the sea." 🌊

2. The mix starts with a song called "White Bird" by June11 and there is a beautiful background story to the song, that stayed with my during all the dreaming i was doing during the recording. 🕊

"White Bird was inspired by the story of the biplane L'Oiseau Blanc, that took off from Paris in 1927 and vanished on its way to New York. The pilots, Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli, were never seen again. Their PL.8-01 sea plane, made of wood and cloth, is thought to have broken upon landing. Nobody knows what really happened. I think L'Oiseau Blanc is still floating somewhere in the endless sky, with its ghosts, doing aerobatics. Maybe their plan was to have no plan, but to gracefully get away from darkness, time, madness, crowds." 🕊
