AVA. Records celebrates its 10th anniversary with 52 artists. 10 Yahre is a 4LP compilation housing 22 tracks, a printed 30 pages magazin and a mixed CD. All wrapped in a custom made silkscreen sleeve, also including a textile keychain and stickers. Sonically spanning from ambient to techno, 10 Yahre carries new and exclusive material, all woven around the label’s decade focus on dance floor culture, started 2011 in Cologne, Germany.

Axel Boman - Don’t Breathe Yet

Irish electro producing artist DeFeKT will supply the second Electronic Explorations 12″ release.

Electronic Explorations went from widely respected podcast to fledgling label in quite distinctive fashion last year, releasing an epic 61 track digital compilation canvassing electronic music which featured unreleased material from an impressive range of artists including AnD, Kowton, Old Apparatus, and Perc. Four of the contributions from that compilation by Δkkord, Kahn, Milanese and Ruckspin were subsequently included on the maiden Electronic Explorations vinyl release EE:V:001, an EP which sold out in 48 hours.

With Electronic Explorations founder Rob Booth fully engaged on A&R duties at Houndstooth, the label aspect has taken something of a back seat this year, though news has now arrived of their second 12″ release.

Whilst the first EE 12″ traversed the 130BPM plus bassier end of the spectrum, the label’s second vinyl release turns to electro with a four track EP from Dublin-based producer DeFeKT, who appeared on the aforementioned Electronic Explorations compilation with “Sunseq”. 

DeFeKT’s Transmuter EP will be Electronic Explorations first solo artist record, which follows the Irishman’s Switch EP released earlier this year on the Singal Code imprint, and his contribution to a Cultivated Electronics sampler which saw DeFeKT collaborate with Sync 24, alongside other productions from Gosub, Versalife and the ever-prolific Tadd Mullinix as J.T.C.

Shedding their usual sample house roots, Irish duo Long Island Sound are back on their brand new label, Signs of Space. That’s not to say we won’t find any samples on the record, but the direction is wholly different than what they’ve come to be known for in a short span of time. A brave move in today’s underground landscape where one wrong step can land you on a trip to house music irrelevancy. We think Rob and Tim may be onto something here though as the “Initial Ascent” EP is a well produced re-debut. 

Our premiere today is the A2 track entitled ‘Shadows From Nowhere’. It’s a breakbeat track at its core but the accompanying sounds are testament to the name of the label. Cosmic sounds adorn the piece with lush, spacey pads and a full, deep, bassline. Analog bleeps and bloops further cement the track as extraterrestrial while the emotive strings really add depth and feeling to it. It’s the standout track for us, although you’ll be sure to find similar flavours on the rest of the record.

Revered producer and composer Daniel Avery returns with a new album and live show, his most ambitious works to date. Channelling every corner of his sound, Tremor is a bold and transportive body of work through euphoric shoegaze, submerged techno, ambient soundscape and industrial bliss. It remains unmistakably Avery, yet dramatically evolved.


With the album Avery has welcomed an inspiring cast of collaborators, including the likes of Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yunè pinku, and Cecile Believe. Each artist leaves their indelible mark, yet the record’s true power lies in the communal spirit at its core.

“This is a living and breathing collective,” says Avery. “Since the earliest recordings, Tremor felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists”, he reflects. “It’s the welcoming spirit of acid house with the doors flung open wider still to allow in every influence from my musical journey: the warmth of distortion, the stillness inside intensity, the transcendental beauty of noise... They have always been there in my music but now it feels like those ideas are being transmitted in Technicolor. This is a record for the post-rave comedown kids, the guitar heads and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride. Everyone is welcome.”

Tremor will be released by Avery’s new home of Domino on 31st October.
