It's been four years since Tim Exile's last release, but the analog warrior never stopped his ferociously futuristic experimentation, whether collaborating with evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, improvising presentations at TED Global 2013, or performing as Mostly Robot with Jamie Lidell. Tim has become more relaxed about music these days following releases on Warp and Planet Mu, diving deep into refined techno without sacrificing fun. Exile's new EP on Leisure System gathers stunning improvised instrumental club bangers from the churning assembly line of his mind, three prickly synth adventures with all the glorious bombast expected from dueling intergalactic battleships. Following on from the success of Capriati’s album Self Portrait, 4 tracks have been hand selected by some of techno’s hottest producers. Dubfire, Coyu, Julian Jeweil, Luigi Madonna have each incorporated the same feeling that Joseph laid out in his original productions, but have added a unique twist that breathes a new lease of life into the tracks.

Dutch producer and DJ Reinier Zonneveld is racking up accolades about as fast as new fans are losing their shit to his far reaching beats. Having already released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label and the ever-influential Traum Schalplatten, Zonneveld’s latest, an EP titled Rushchamber, is out on the increasingly important Stil Vor Talent, an imprint run by tastemaker Oliver Koletzki.

The 3-track EP captures the variation Zonneveld is known for and kicks off with “Sharp Bust,” a careening, pure techno number with detuned horns and whirring rushes. The titular track 2, “Rushchamber,” weaves in groovier house influences in the beat, and “Flatchat” levels off somewhere in the middle. The collection reflects the wide palate that Zonneveld, who was raised on classical music, brings to the studio. 

Reinier Zonneveld - Sharp Bust

Italian acclaimed DJ/producer Frankyeffe is back on Reload Black, once again delivering ounces of groove through his brand new single, tilted 'Illusion'.

The track starts off with a stomping bassline laced with looped-out vocal snippets, while frantic claps and busy arrangement set the tone, leaving metallic percussion to provide the momentum and evolving synths to reinforce the energetic vibe. Things get kicked up a notch when tasty chords are employed, leaving just enough space for the hypnotic atmospherics to ensure a jet-back ride into the night.

Back in January, UK producer and RBMA alum Throwing Snow announced that he would be dropping a four-part series of dancefloor-oriented releases over the next several months via the Houndstooth label. The cracking rhythms and bleeping synths of "Subtitles" are from the series' second installment (which is dropping soon but hasn't even been announced yet), and the track debuted on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

Revered producer and composer Daniel Avery returns with a new album and live show, his most ambitious works to date. Channelling every corner of his sound, Tremor is a bold and transportive body of work through euphoric shoegaze, submerged techno, ambient soundscape and industrial bliss. It remains unmistakably Avery, yet dramatically evolved.


With the album Avery has welcomed an inspiring cast of collaborators, including the likes of Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yunè pinku, and Cecile Believe. Each artist leaves their indelible mark, yet the record’s true power lies in the communal spirit at its core.

“This is a living and breathing collective,” says Avery. “Since the earliest recordings, Tremor felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists”, he reflects. “It’s the welcoming spirit of acid house with the doors flung open wider still to allow in every influence from my musical journey: the warmth of distortion, the stillness inside intensity, the transcendental beauty of noise... They have always been there in my music but now it feels like those ideas are being transmitted in Technicolor. This is a record for the post-rave comedown kids, the guitar heads and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride. Everyone is welcome.”

Tremor will be released by Avery’s new home of Domino on 31st October.
