Possibly the biggest release on OFF in 2011 so far!

OFF 26 introduces two new talents to the label: Berlin-based friends Daniel Dexter and Nhan Solo.

They deliver "Our Thang", a dead-funky discofied summer tune, based on samples which all lovers of 90ies HipHop will dearly remember.

On the flip side, labelowner Andre Crom & Martin Dawson deliver a deeper, more linear interpretation, based around a mighty bassline and an epic slowdown in the main break.

Second remix comes from Luca Lozano & Sacha Robotti, who score with a raw and toolish groove, adding further elements of the sampled song and additional sweet vocals.

Daniel Dexter is the latest new talent to emerge as part of the Poker Flat crew. After some success with his strong, futuristic productions on Semester Musik, the Berlin based producer has found a new home in Steve Bug's modern house magnate.
The moody, storming 'No House For Old Men' is a superb example of Daniel's talents. Synth-heavy, dramatic and restrained, this slow burning houser lifts and climbs into spacey, ecstatic moments as its Detroit influenced keys and Carl Craig-esque peaks bring it home.
The groovy 'Who Knows Motorcity' works a simple yet addictive theme in a powerful pop-house moment, especially designed for summertime evening action. Clean, bright percussion and rubbery synths flavour this delightful second course!
The deeper, hypnotic tones of 'The Other Day' have an almost soundtrack quality as subtle key changes and detailed sound design take this track into more subterranean realms. Melancholic yet positive in its resolution, this is future house music in its prime!

Berlin based Daniel Dexter is part of the new breed of producers showing us why there‘s still mileage in the good old house groove. His cultured, expressive productions have the mark of a true talent and Mr. Dexter has only just begun...!

The acid-revival lives on. `Storm‘ is a heavy, late night tale of sax, e-piano and stomping synth basslines. Growing from a filtered intro, its song like structure drives us into true reckless abandon - perfect for the darker moments of the night, but still oozy with funk and soul.

The thick, percussive opening bars of `There Will Be Jazz‘ lead to a focus on one of Dexter‘s chosen weapons - more jazzy saxophone samples and synthesized strings lift us into a musical crescendo of tension, yet there‘s a laid back, New York vibe to the track, which will no doubt get plenty of plays this summer.

The mysterious `Murder‘ is a darker affair, shrouded in rave-era stabs and a real pushing vibe. It's clear that Daniel is a dextrous (no pun intended) producer with plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

A1. Work Your Body (Audiojack Remix) We knew that Audiojack is always a sure shot but this time they outdid themselves. They boys from the industrial allyes of Leeds made a killer track topping understated coolness with hard drums and short crisp synthie steps that pierce your brain, two goose bump moments included that will keep you wanting to just go “yippeah yeah!!!” over and over again.
A2. Work Your Body (Original)
This one starts out with a pumping chicago bass and is driven pitched black vocals and swirling Rhode chords. No doubt you will end up with a feeling of standing in a warehouse back in the infamous nights when the Roland TR 808 and 909 gives off clouds of smoke. Daniel Dexter managed to create a gentle and subtle tribute to heroes like Lil Louis, Adonis or Steve Silk Hurley giving the track an advanced touch by turning it into a mélange with modern UK sound.
B1. Today (Original) Daniel Dexter, well-known for his expressive productions, presents this classical piece of house music that has one undeniable influence: Jazz. The sample might evocate a 90s Hip Hop feeling, reminding of that summer of our youth when girls still tasted like ice cream and music still came out of your portable ghettoblasters. But combining very earthy old school drums with the sax playing its intriguing twirling melody, Dexter’s focus on the pure essentials gives the track an inimitable contemporary sophistication.
B2. Today (Animal Trainer Remix)
Who could put warmth into a track with long stretched bass sounds better than a Swiss? That’s why we have Animal Trainer straight out of Zurich aboard, emphasizing the track’s laid back summery feeling by accompanying it with lots of ear tickling tinkling, dreamy synthie pads, and hand made drums. It all builds up, little by little, towards the ultimate break that will put you to the state of complete madness.

Zombie Disco Squad return with a remix package that can only be described as incendiary. A hand picked selection of the finest production talent have tooled up and taken on a selection of tracks from Zombie Disco Squad’s debut album ‘Brains’. First up is ‘Righteous Sound’, the collaboration with Omar as well as new interpretations of ‘Twerk’, featuring DJ Funk and an ode to a night out in San Antonio ‘Ibiza Hooligan’.

First in to the battle is Monkey Safari; the boys from Germany rework ‘Be Down’ from a party shuffler to deep house bubbler. Bringing the hi-hits and vocals to the fore the track becomes more back room than big room, skilfully soulful whilst still likely to cause a compound fracture of your kneecaps. If you haven’t heard of Dirty Bird affiliate Shadow Child, then it’s clearly you that that has been kept in the dark. Stepping into the light, Shadow Child’s remix of ‘Ibiza Hooligan’ ramps up all the best parts of the original with bone shaking bass lines and key stabs in the best possible way.

The third remix comes courtesy of Daniel Dexter, morphing the soulfulness of the ‘Righteous Sound’ original into a straight up house groove, a touch of acid and a deeper than deep bass line all underpinned by Daniel’s self professed love of Chicago house, it’s one for the heads. The second remix of ‘Ibiza Hooligan’ is from Anglo-American lads the Wildkats and it’s a total eighties child albeit one living in the year 2012. It’s a synth-laden, bass line rolling party track. Whilst on the subject of party tracks Mercury’s remix of ‘Goodnight’ will also be found in all it’s jump up keyboard and cut up vocal glory on a hands in the air (rather than heads down) based dance floor very soon.

The last two remixes are Sascha Robotti’s version of ‘Twerk’ and the Beatport Remix
Competition winner Nick Sabin’s remix of ‘Righteous Sound’. Whilst Sasha’s remix is anadrenaline filled modern house belter that promises to help give you exactly what the name of the name of the track implies, Nick Sabin ‘s mix is an unlikely fusion of progressive house and garage and manages to make the two seemingly disparate genres have an arm wrestle with neither ending up the loser.

He’s been living in Berlin for a few years now and one can call him a jack-of-all-trades. He releases on Steve Bug’s label Poker Flat Recordings as well as Semester Musik and Andre Crom’s OFF Recordings.
His love is devoted to reduced House, Chicago House and Detroit Techno.
Nevertheless, he doesn’t really care about genre-boundaries. His DJ Sets promise euphoria, style and attitude. They live on the mixture of abstract melodies that are carried through danceable rhythms and percussive grooves. Daniel Dexter knows his way around music. He knows his job as a DJ. He owns a filed mixing-technique and an exclusive mixture of records. However, he’s also a party animal.

But who the hell is that guy?

In the beginning Daniel was into Punk music but then got fascinated by the new electronic music. The machine like sound from acts like Kraftwerk is what fascinated him so.
As young as the age of sixteen he bought his first DJ equipment. Looking for the underground in the Bavarian province he found it at illegal parties at factorials and empty buildings in his hometown Ingolstadt. The sets as a resident DJ were often longer than 7hours and the clubs were all wrecked and not even the drinks were on the house. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm was so high; he started to produce his own tracks. Just after the millennium he was torn to Berlin as something was happening right there and the sound he liked so much was just there. Through the first record releases he was very often booked as a main act. Because of his engagements he saw cities such as New York, Istanbul, London, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Tijuana or Helsinki. His music is nowadays found in the record bags of famous DJ’s such as Erol Alkan, Laurent Garnier, Kevin Saunderson, Steve Bug, Tiefschwarz, Modeselektor, Jesse Rose, Sis, Nick Curly, Gorge and A-Trak.
