Acá (2020) -  for piano and string orchestra

Daniele Vulpiani was born in Rome in 1989 and started  his music studies at the age of ten.

In 2012 he graduated in philosophy, at the University of “Roma Tre”, with a thesis in musical aesthetics titled “The myth of Orpheus and the origin of melodrama, the Euridice by Jacopo Peri and the Orpheus by Claudio Monteverdi”.

He studied composition with Marialuisa Balza in Rome (PIMS) and with Daniele Bravi at the Conservatory “U.Giordano” in Foggia, where he graduated in 2017. He then studied with Ivan Fedele at the “Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia”, obtaining his diploma in 2022. At the same institution, he studied electronic music with Michelangelo Lupone.

He also enhanced his studying experiences attending masterclasses with Mauro Lanza, Francesca Verunelli, Marco Stroppa, Stefano Gervasoni, Eero Hämeenniemi, Carlo Boccadoro, Simone Movio, Luca Lombardi and Derek Bermel.

Daniele's musical ideas are connected with philosophy, studies on perception and in particular with architecture.

Remarkable ensembles and soloists who have performed his music include Quatuor Diotima, Echéa Quartet, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra's Brass, Quartetto Sincronie, Arrigoni String Orchestra and Ensemble Novecento conducted by Pasquale Corrado, Duo Dubois, the pianists Anna D'Errico, Maurizio Paciariello, the harpsichordist Davide Cicconi, the euphonist Marina Boselli, the cellist Helena Švigelj, the saxophonist Alberto Napolitano and the flutists Keiko Murakami, Renata Guzik and Iwona Glinka.

His music is published by Stradivarius Edizioni (Milan) and Da Vinci Publishing (Osaka).

Daniele's works have been performed in festivals and venues such as Impuls Festival (Graz), Auditorium E. Morricone - Parco della Musica (Rome), Teatro Politeama Garibaldi (Palermo), Castello Sforzesco (Milan), Kaivos-festivaali (Outokumpu), Španski Borci Cultural Center (Ljubliana), An Art Artistry (Athens), Narnia Festival (Narni), Teatro Concordia (San Marino), Festival Spazio Freon (Rome), San Vito Musica Contemporanea (Pordenone), Festival Rumore Bianco (Foggia), concert seasons of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (Rome) and broadcasted by Radio Classica and Radio Cemat.

He won the first prize at the VI International Competition “SIMM 2021 – nuove musiche per clavicembalo” (Milan), the second prize (first prize not assigned) at the “2021 Busan Maru International Music Festival Composition Competition” (Busan, KR), and the third prize at the “ICU International Composers Contest” (Odessa).
