ABOUT FLORA CASH:

Cole and Shpresa met on SoundCloud; where each had been uploading music independently, in early 2012. At first, their love was simply for the other's music. That quickly turned into something more, however, and it wasn’t long before the two began a relationship on Skype which lasted more than five months. In June 2012, Shpresa flew to Cole in Minneapolis, from Stockholm, and stayed until the couple returned to Sweden two months later. It was there that Flora Cash was born.

Fans of contemporary vocalist duos including Angus and Julia Stone, Of Monsters and Men (OMAM), and First Aid Kit as well as those of previous generations including Johnny Cash / June Carter Cash, Sonny and Cher, Buckingham Nicks and Simon & Garfunkel will find something to love in the pop folk stylings and authentic love-born melodies of Flora Cash.

Our friends over at INDIGENOUS are due major kudos for this Lovely Hearts Club addition. Ryan Karazija is the man behind Low Roar, who just released his debut, self-titled album this November. What perfect timing of this release, as it's so nice to have something a bit sad to put in the headphones on these cold, short days of winter. Ryan moved from San Francisco to Iceland and began writing this album as he found himself in a state of loneliness struggling to provide for his family in a foreign land. Anyone who as ever picked up and left a stable life in hopes of finding something new/better/different or just to escape from their past knows this feeling of despair, fear of the unknown, and hope of what's to come.

The brand spanking new video for "Give Up", (recently premiered via Prefix) depicts this image of self-reflection so beautifully and raw that it might just bring a tear to your eye. It's nice to be reminded that we are capable of feeling the melancholy brought on by Low Roar, and for that we are thankful.  So take a seat or lay down in your room with the lights dimmed and stream "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight". Then head to iTunes and pick up the whole album, you won't regret it!

Danielle Birrittella's music weaves years of operatic training and an eclectic artistic background to create a sound that combines classical influences with modern experimental folk. Lauded as "something of a nostalgic enigma with a penchant for impeccably balanced songwriting" (The Line of Best Fit), Danielle's "high, crystalline soprano" (The Wall Street Journal) has been said to "deliver a delicacy that is emotionally tranquilizing" (Georgie Magazine).

Raised on a Hindu ashram, Danielle began her musical journey singing ceremonial ragas as a child. This early exposure to sacred music led her to pursue extensive classical training and performing as an opera singer throughout the U.S. and Europe. She has been described as “mesmerizing... as hypnotic to watch as she is to hear” (Parterre) and “exposed, intelligent, earnest... powerful and persuasive” (The New York Times), with a “radiant, almost angelic presence” (The Financial Times).

Reminiscent of Beach House, to Slowdive, to Julee Cruise (Pop Matters), Danielle's debut EP, Tiny Ocean, features songs produced by Joey Waronker (Beck, REM, Atoms for Peace) and Tim Carr (Perfume Genius, Hand Habits, HAIM). Her live performance of "Covered In Light" was highlighted on NPR’s Tiny Desk.

Danielle's multifaceted career, spanning opera, new music, devised performance, and film with a focus on collaborative engagement with poets, dancers, and visual artists, pushes the boundaries of indie and contemporary classical music.
