I wrote and recorded this track at home during Sydney’s 2021 coronavirus lockdown. In the song, I explore love and loss, delivering a pretty emotional message to someone who was once very special in my life.

I don’t think we hear enough music like this. It’s just my piano with these beautifully haunting lyrics that capture what it means to tell the world you haven’t been as happy as they’ve come to believe you are.

My Guilt

This track is intimate and piano-driven to begin with, as I recognise the pain my younger self went through. By the time the chorus hits with electric guitars and a rock beat, I'm promising my younger self that everything will be okay.

You'll Make It Through the Night

I wrote and recorded “Martyr” in my bedroom in 2022. The soul-inspired track draws on my feelings of anger and distrust against a backdrop of bluesy piano, ghostly ambience and a fierce stomp-clap drive. The introduction of horns and gospel vocals in the chorus emphasise my tendency to keep my 'person' close for "one more day", while the groovy drum rhythm takes hold.
