With aims of capturing the hearts of island people and island life lovers everywhere, he’s painting a vivid picture of what it’s like to be born and raised in this part of the world while painting pictures of what he wants his world to be with every release.

Naturally, artists like this have foundations in Hip-Hop and that’s where it began for MERRIQUE in particular, aside from singing in church as a kid.
This guy is fusing Hip-Hop, Soul, R&B, Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Dancehall and Afrobeats (Cousou, he calls his sound)—making it sound familiar and foreign at the same damn time, while exuding a humble yet confident persona. Easy as an island breeze and definitely worth the listen.
