LAPROUD: LA Pride 2020 VIRTUAL LIVE SET

With June comes Pride and 2020 is certainly a Pride year for the record books. We’re still living under a global pandemic with all in-person celebrations canceled. But thankfully, America is finally demanding change against systematic racism through the #BlackLivesMatter movement in a way that we haven’t seen since the 1960s. It’s a powerful moment in history and it leaves me feeling motivated and inspired. Pride is not canceled, just because large gatherings can’t happen. In fact, I’d say that the spirit of Pride this year is stronger than ever. 

My latest podcast is a mix of joyous hands-in-the-air celebration dance tracks and gay classics, with a healthy sprinkling of Lady Gaga (whose latest album, “Chromatica,” is taking the summer by storm!) It contains my latest remix with Stephen Jusko, of 2020 song of the summer “Rain On Me,” by Mother Monster with help from Ariana Grande.

I only got to DJ here once Labor Day Weekend back in 2010.  HIRO Ballroom is in NYC and located in Chelsea.  Years ago they use to put on an incredible party catering to Gay clientele on Sunday nights.  I loved DJIng here as the energy was electric.  Not a guy on the dance floor had his shirt on.   This set you on a journey in an iconic dance arena.

Dan Slater is an Australian DJ and Producer based in the United States.

After years in the club scene as one of the most in demand dancers and show producers, Dan’s love of music eventually lured him onto the decks – and this new chapter has gained him the attention of promoters and clubbers around the world.

He has been bringing his upbeat, chunky house sound to dance floors across the globe, and his talent for sculpting the energy of a party is in a league of its own. He draws from the progressive sounds of the European club scene, as well as the Latino fire of South America as he moves seamlessly between house, circuit, tech and deep house.

Dan kicked off his DJ career as winner of the Sydney Mardi Gras DJ Spin-Off Competition, and was most recently the curator of the Domain Dance Party at Sydney WorldPride. His first release, ‘Minute Of You’ saw him collaborate with JimJam, and featured soul diva Nalaya. He released 'We Are', ‘Sold My Soul’, 'I've Been Waiting' and ‘Respectable’ with Australian singer-songwriter, Zoë Badwi. Dan recently released 'Pieces' & 'Hard To Say I'm Sorry' with American singer-songwriter Alan Gendreau.
