Soulfooled welcomes the new year and kicks off with with Mario Aureo's 'EVERYBODY EP'.

Our Hannover-born boy who's meanwhile running the in-house record label of Berlin's famous Ritter Butzke club delivers two sweeping tunes called 'Everybody Lives The Same Life' and 'Bring It Here'.

In terms of remix duties, we have an old acquaintance on board, Daniel Solar, you might know him for his track called 'Oversoap' released on our latest Soulfooled Cribs compilation. The other part is taken on by Switzerland's House pioneer DJ Le Roi who releases on labels like Get Physical, Noir Music and many more.

The first successful year of our ambitious club-label draws to a close now and we proudly look back on five superb releases from our residents Patryk Molinari, Kuriose Naturale, Madmotormiquel, Schlepp Geist, Mario Aureo & Manuel Moreno. As though by chance a selection of them feature as a main part on our next project as well - The "Five Years Lost" compilation which has stemmed from the celebration of the clubs five year anniversary which will take place from 2nd till 5th of October 2014.
This compilation contains 12 multifarious tracks by well-known and fresh producers out of the Ritter Butzke sphere. From Deep and Tech-House, across Minimal to Techno, right up to Disco and Progressive - everything is featured here. We want to showcase a wide range of quality electronic music in the release that well represents the sound of the club, past, present and of course future. 
Unfortunately it would break the mould if we go into every single track stylistically - that's why we just want to briefly introduce the artists one by one: firstly “CrossfronTier" Marc Poppcke, "friend of the family" Bela Brandes, "Dikso-Boy" Daniel Solar, "kind soul" Don Brazo, "the dynamic duo" Mario Aureo & Manuel Moreno, "the bold wolves" Kuriose Naturale, "Mr. Vibe" Patryk Molinari, "Freundentaumler" Chris Hanke, "Plötzlich princesses" Beddermann & Dahlmann, "master clean" Putzlicht, "team exit" Wasted Ruffians and "head chef" Andre Schaaf. In short, a real plethora of names and music that you don't need to enhance by words but rather let the musical contributions speak for themselves.
We are truly happy to see this project grow and continue to do so into next year and beyond.

Five Years Lost

Amidst a musical fanfare mid-way through the year, a Proton Music highlight of significant import saw Kobana release his much anticipated debut artist album. Released a month earlier, the track "Barsoom" provided a taste of what was to follow with a typically innovative remix from Nick Stoynoff. Now, as the delights within "The Riddle" are fully realised, Proton 'returns to Mars' with brand new interpretations of "Barsoom" from a German legend and a rapidly rising Australian star.

To those with discerning tastes, Marc Poppcke needs little introduction. A musical connoisseur from an early age and DJ first and foremost, performances in local clubs around his Hildesheim hometown quickly provided a growing fan base and a two-year residency at Hannover's club "H.de.M." in the early 2000s. Moving to the capital to study at Berlin's "School of Audio Engineering" provided a further launch pad to success as the Meerestief and Diynamic imprints saw early collaborative work with Daniel Solar well supported. Further studies at Berlin's "University of Arts" saw the award of a Masters degree before a production career then skyrocketed. 2012's "Displayed Emotions/History Repeating" EP for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat and 2013's "Inner Conflict" EP on Sasha's Last Night on Earth have been notable highlights, allied to further work for Parquet, Defected and Soma. With over a half-century of credits for his own Crossfrontier Audio also to his name, Proton Music is thrilled to welcome back Marc Poppcke after previous remixes of Fran Von Vie and Colourblock. 

Returning for a third outing, Poppcke's remix of "Barsoom" is full of the subtle melodic phrasing and dynamic rhythmic interplay that epitomises his work. Taking Kobana's track on a ten-minute voyage of discovery, audio cues from the original are cleverly used to optimum effect to create a delicious new interpretation that bristles with emotion.

Australian, Kieran Krohn has grown rapidly within the underground music scene through a combination of hard work and no considerable talent. Head of the highly-regarded FutureForm Music imprint, Verve has brought a wealth of industry know-how and blue chip contact lists to fruition with a raft of successful releases, combining his own unique sound and brining the talents of Quivver, Andre Sobota and fellow countryman, Rich Curtis, to the fore. A production career that encompasses elemental fusion of "minimal, tech, trance and techno" has led to a sought after sound that has graced the catalogues of Lowbit, Indigo and Stereo Paradise while the "Fusion" EP on Particles, amidst remixes from Exoplanet, Ferdy and Kobana & Mario Hatchet, now sees Verve elevated to Proton Music once more after a successful remix of Tvardovsky's "Hope" in May.

Taking an expert approach to his craft, the Verve remix of "Barsoom" combines the smooth melodic structures of Kobana's original with a strong house rhythm and hypnotic tape-delayed siren call that evolves and envelopes as it plays, bringing Verve's passion and attention to detail to the fore.

Kobana's "Return to Mars" is an immaculate exploration of space and atmosphere as Marc Poppcke and Verve breathe new life into "Barsoom".

"Wasted Ruffians are back with an excellent remix of "Receiver" by The/Das. The original track was released with The/Das' stunning debut album 'Freezer' on Sinnbus Records. On their first full-length release the Berlin duo, made up of Fabian Fenk and Anton Feist, have adopted an exciting course. In a technoid frame they create - along with regulars Thomalla (Krakatau), Jörg Wähner (Apparat) and Gunnar Spies (Mia.) - a distinctly organic, in-depth soundscape. Wasted Ruffians often crossed The/Das' path in Berlin club and party scene. They picked up the deeply sad 'Receiver', which contains the breathy female vocal of guest singer Pirjo Marx added to Fenk's distinctive vocal and the tracks haunting feel. 
Accelerating the tempo, revisiting the track with a solid bassline and a restructured composition, it results in a fetching smooth Deep House track!"
