A collaborative composition by Clara de Asís and Rebecca Lane deriving from a series of encounters and explorations throughout different times, spaces and forms.

Distances Bending is an ever-expand­ing pro­cess — a build­ing up, dis­tilling, and mir­ror­ing of mater­i­als par­tic­u­lar to each artist, respond­ing to and inhab­it­ing a space over mul­tiple hours or days. A repeated time struc­ture, a tem­por­al loop that is altered through upwardly evolving ration­ally-tuned fre­quen­cies, vari­ous flutes (whose size, timbre and shape cor­res­pond to these fre­quen­cies), elec­tron­ics, and chan­ging light, the piece cre­ates a subtle space where per­cep­tion is transformed.

Kali Ensemble @ Studio LOOS. 03/03/23

This piece was presented at the first concert of my research project at Studio LOOS, Making Time Together. Collective Experiences of Time in Continuous Ensemble Practice, in which I explored collective experiences of time in music through my continuous collaboration with Kali Ensemble.

Showcasing the results of the first of the two workshops with Kali, this instalment focused on different modes of listening and exploring their potential to influence the musicians’ and listeners’ temporal experiences. In preparing the concert, we paid special attention to the dynamic relationship between space and our experiences of time.

This concert and the research project were made possible with a subsidy from Makersregeling Gemeente Den Haag.

Kali is an ensemble based in the Hague. It consists of Giuseppe Sapienza (clarinet), İdil  Yunkuş (violin), Beste Yıldız (cello), and Nirantar Yakthumba (piano), and Gregor Connelly (electronics). They primarily work with young composers with whom they can collaborate and experiment over long periods. They aim to develop an artistic practice unique to their relationship with their collaborators. This way of working is of great importance to the musicians involved and formative to the ensemble’s own sound. Over the past years, they have formed close and active relationships with several young composers based in The Hague and they have become experts at performing their music, realizing many large-scale projects with great attention to detail.

Was written for Orkest De Ereprijs, performed at Young Composers Meeting 2019 in Apeldoorn. 


This piece is a tribute to the late great Mark E Smith and 'Nettlebast' is a reference to 'Bombast' by The Fall.

Clubasia is a historic club in Shibuya Tokyo but it faces a financial crisis caused by COVID-19. 
For donation, https://soundcloud.com/kabanagu raised the plan of compilation album and 30 volunteer artists responded to his address. 
Hercelot also joined it with a new song "Dreamscat".
Thus the album titled "sound leakage 2020" was released 3rd July.
