Unseen Noises is the second sound effects bundle created by sound designer and composer Matteo Milani.
Electromagnetic informations are invisible and omnipresent. In every city, especially in the big ones, an infinite number of electromagnetic waves is hidden: we can't hear them, but they're everywhere! We explored this "invisible" noise pollution transducing electromagnetic fields into audio signals with a telephone pickup: it acts like a radio antenna for hum and weird electromagnetic noises.
We plugged it into a SONOSAX SX-R4 recorder, moving it close in to electrical devices - like a stethoscope - to locate interesting and curious sounds, just like LCD television, internet antennas, lighting systems, transformers, game consoles, tablet, electronic security systems, scanners, computers monitors and hard-drives, printers, navigation systems, fax machines...

Un tema molto attuale e un'invito a cercare uno stimolo per lottare contro le ormai comuni fobie che modellano i nostri sogni

Flutist, Musical Instrument and Music Technologies teacher, acousmatic composer and interpreter, Danilo Girardi graduated in "Music and New Technologies" (Electronic Music) under the guidance of F. Scagliola, also in Flute, at the Conservatory "N.Piccinni" of Bari (Italy); he is also Musical Instrument and Music Technologies teacher; he has attended the course of "Experimantal Composition" and the course of Electronic Music in Accademia Musicale Pescarese; he has studied Sound Projection on the Acousmonium in Italy since 2004 and in France under the guidance of Jonathan Prager and Denis Dufour, and since 2007 he is stablily in the group of interpreters of M.Ar.E. (www.festivalsilence.it). In 2008 he took part of the equipe of interpreters of Motus for Acousmatic Music Festival "Futura 2008" in Crest (France), in 2018 he played on the acousmonium Sator in Milan (Italy). In 2007 his composition "Interferenze" has been selected for the final of the 6th International Computer Music Competition "Pierre Scheaffer" and in 2011 has been played in France for Acousmatic Music Festival "Futura". In 2012 his composition "Flare - Part 1 ("Hypnosis"), Part 2 ("Crushing")" has been selected and played for the 5th edition of EMUfest "Electroacoustic Music International Festival" of S.Cecilia Conservatory of Rome. In 2013 he was finalist of "San Fedele Multimedia Prize" in Milan (Italy), for which in 2014 he collaborated on the multimedia work "Opticks" based on the principles of light of Newton, in collaboration with the Ensemble InterContemporain of Paris. In 2014 he participated in Bari to the establishment of "Silence Space" (which permanently hosts the acusmonium M.Ar.E.) where he performs and teaches.
